Holder Condemns 'Heinous Assault' On 2 Police Officers In Ferguson

Source: TPM

Attorney General Eric Holder denounced the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson, Mo., in a statement on Thursday.

"This heinous assault on two brave law enforcement officers was inexcusable and repugnant. I condemn violence against any public safety officials in the strongest terms, and the Department of Justice will never accept any threats or violence directed at those who serve and protect our communities," Holder said.

Two officers, one from the St. Louis County Police Department, the other from West Grove, sustained serious injuries after they were shot during a protest in Ferguson early Thursday morning. Some protesters believed that the Ferguson police chief's resignation, which was announced on Wednesday, did not go far enough following the scathing Justice Department report on the department's conduct.

Holder said on Thursday that the shooting did not help the city of Ferguson as it recovers from the shooting of Michael Brown and the DOJ investigation into the police department's actions. "Such senseless acts of violence threaten the very reforms that nonviolent protesters in Ferguson and around the country have been working towards for the past several months," Holder said. "We wish these injured officers a full and speedy recovery. We stand ready to offer any possible aid to an investigation into this incident, including the department's full range of investigative resources."

and willful violations of people civil rights, up to, and including murder, the questions must be asked:

Are the police responsible for this? Did one of their own, or an police agent provocateur pull the trigger?

I wish I could say that this is a preposterous question, but given historical police conduct, it is relevant.

These are some of the most racist, corrupt law enforcement officials in the US.

they just happen to be the only LE agency to have been investigated and exposed at this time.

The attention on them at this time is wholly their own fault.

And now they're running like cockroaches as they get exposed for what they've been for a long time.

And I still think it's one of their own pushing violent actions against the police and the Ferguson community, doing their best to create a justification for the brutality they've directed towards Ferguson. This is Missouri after all, they've had long experience in underhanded tactics against black folks there...

All the while ignoring the flatly obvious race-baiting, fear-mongering and LOTS of lies told by the likes of Rush, O'reilly, Hannity, etc.

It's what they're paid to do of course. The very thing they try to frame Al Sharpton for.

Without scapegoats they'd have to focus on their own attitudes and behaviour, and that kind of thing isn't in a right-wingers DNA.
