Kent 'Dr Dino' Hovind found guilty of contempt
Source: Pensacola News Journal
At 11:09 a.m. the jury in the trial of Pensacola evangelist Kent Hovind returned their verdict convicting Hovind on one of four counts he was facing, and his co-defendant Paul John Hansen on two of five.
Hovind was found guilty of contempt for filing paperwork disputing the government's right to sell his property. The jury was unable to agree on the three other charges Hovind was facing.
Hovind sat impassively after hearing the verdict, his hands folded. Tom Keith, Hovind's attorney, asked Federal Judge Casey Rodgers if his client could be allowed to continue serving his incarceration at either a federal prison camp or under home detention. He's currently under less agreeable circumstances in the Santa Rosa County Jail.

This article goes even deeper into Hovind's kookery. http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Kent_Hovind
Hovind is basically the non-violent Cliven Bundy.

(7,745 posts)From exercising your right to file legal paperwork in your defense.
I see this as a judge abusing his/her authority to punish someone for exercising their right to make true statements in their defense.
Hovind is obviously an idiot. that doesn't mean we should imprison him for defending himself.
