Robert Durst, the subject of the HBO series "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst," has been arrested in New Orleans.
Durst, 71, was being held on a murder warrant out of Los Angeles, his attorney, Chip Lewis, told ABC station KTRK-TV. He was arrested Saturday, a day before the final episode of the HBO series airs.
Lewis told KTRK that Durst would not fight extradition to Los Angeles. He hoped to get him before a judge in New Orleans by Monday.
The New York real estate scion has made national headlines as a person of interest or suspect in three deaths since 1982. An investigation into the 2000 death of Susan Berman was recently reopened by police in Los Angeles.

(14,573 posts)I had distant memories of some of this, but it has been interesting getting it all laid out.
This guy is one really, really bizarre guy, first off.
And, to state the obviously, it is amazing what being from a family of means can do to keep you from suffering the consequences of your actions.
I've been fascinated with it, too. First, it's a documentary done extremely well--such as the unusual camera shots, like the one where we see the murder from the vantage point of under the bed.
Another aspect I really liked is how they presented Durst and let him talk. He comes off as so "down to earth," and with a good deal of common sense, especially when talking about bizarre things like why he decided to impersonate a mute woman. Of course she had to be mute! His voice would have given it all away, he exclaims. He says it in such a way that he might as well be talking about why hot chocolate has to be sweetened.
Well, his brother Douglas must be absolutely delighted at this point. The $65 million suit Robert was waging against the family's holdings will obviously be taking back seat to another one that's about to go on.
