Netanyahu To Masses In Tel Aviv: There's A Great Danger That A Left-Wing Gov't Will Come Into Power

Source: Jerusalem Post

Tens of thousands of demonstrators overflowed Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square to support a right-wing government Sunday night in a rally titled “United for the Land of Israel.”

“There is a real danger of a leftwing government, even though most of the public doesn’t want [Zionist Union leaders] Tzipi [Livni] and Buji [Isaac Herzog] as prime minister and want to see me continue,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the crowd.

Netanyahu warned the demonstrators that the gap between Zionist Union and Likud votes will determine who forms the next government.

“We have to close the gap; we can close the gap,” he declared.

Asking the demonstrators to avoid violence and provocations, the prime minister vowed, amid cheers, that the Land of Israel “will never be divided again.”

What in my writings would ever lead you to question that I'm not a blue dog progressive who would never in her life vote for Repugs or even sit out an election? Those are fighting words, (naw, just kidding). I have nothing but utter contempt for McCain, Romney or any of the clown car folks now trying to run for R=esident. Dems do have reason to fear, real reasons, like they (Repugs and Kochs leading the way) are trying to take away social security, medicare, public schools, women's ability to make their own reproductive decisions, etc. etc. That's real, not just stupid stuff like "Kenyan", "Muslim", "socialist", etc.

Whenever a government or person in government is in trouble, they bring out "The Other" as the scapegoat.

Nazis used Jews.

Soviets used the US.
So does Maduro in Venezuela.

North Korea uses the US, South Korea, and Japan.

At least on the state level. God help American blacks and/or Latinos if one of those teahadists gets into the White House. I shudder for them.

But the truth is the danger isn't to Israel, the danger is of Bibi losing his job and possible investigations and prosecutions.

there's no way to hide the intent to permanently annex the entire land from the river to the sea, leaving no land for Palestinians.

Not that there was any reason to doubt this, but having it unambiguously declared in the Prime Minister's own words should put all the bullshit rhetoric about "two state solution" etc. to rest once and for all.

Israel is an apartheid country, no doubt about it.

In effect, raising the specter of violence and provocations, as though the Israeli state election process (as opposed to its policies toward Arab populations) were marked by such. This is inducing hysteria. Of course, he would know his base, maybe there's a strong chance of it.
