Ted Cruz to lose Goldman Sachs health benefits

Heidi Cruz, the wife of the newly announced Republican presidential candidate, is on unpaid leave from from her executive post at Goldman Sachs for the duration of her husband's presidential campaign, and will not receive company benefits including health insurance during this time, a Goldman spokesperson told CNN.
Cruz has previously said that he receives his health insurance through his wife's Goldman plan and has boasted about not needing to receive government health care benefits.
It's unclear what health care plan the Texas senator will choose while his wife is on leave from Goldman. Cruz's spokespeople didn't immediately return requests for this information.
Lawmakers generally are required to receive insurance through Obamacare unless they're able to obtain coverage from another source. Cruz has built a political brand by vocally opposing that system. If he were to go on the congressional health care plan, he could encounter plenty of criticism.

(15,438 posts)I apologize that this took a little longer to post but I'm dealing with Argulus in my goldfish tank and it's a pain! lol But it looks as if Parasite Guard from Tetra is working, so we'll see tomorrow. Anyway, that's why I haven't been online for most of the day, and couldn't respond quicker to your kind post.

(15,438 posts)I apologize that my post was a little confusing to read (and I saw that it was) but Argulus isn;'t the name of my fish but a parasite that had infested my 110 gal goldfish tank. I think they'd gotten in when I bought the small Demekins from an exotic fish breeder. Yeah, I didn't quarantine them as I was supposed to. *sigh*
Some people call Argulus "fish lice". They're tiny crustaceans that stick to my exotics' bodies and fins and if not treated, can kill the fish (which takes a long time, but still!). Last night I had to use tweezers to remove them from the smaller Demekin goldies, and this morning I removed eleven of them from our huge chocolate Oranda, Tudor, from his veil tail because he was in real discomfort.
However, this evening, I can report that they're all Argulus-free! In order to ensure that I get all the eggs and stuff, I'm going to do one more treatment tomorrow evening and then it's done!

But thanks so much for caring, Cha. Then again, I'm not surprised as warm and kind as you always are.

Before that, they were in the FEHB like the rest of the federal employees (where you had to pick a provider from your locality).

In the episode "Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy" from The Simpsons' sixth season, Abraham Simpson asks his son what it is that is bugging his wife. After suggesting flu and protein deficiency, Abe suggests she might be suffering from pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, but is told this is not the problem.

(959 posts)he's federal. A seminal event (loss of coverage) and he enrolls in a FEHB plan, i.e. Blue Cross, etc., and he's covered. This guy has choices, which a lot of people don't have. And he doesn't want them to ever get any choices.

(23,272 posts)We're so focused on subsidies and qualifying for those but the reality is high income people can shop there as well, they simply won't get a subsidy.
