Heart patient, 5, taken from St. Louis hospital

ST. LOUIS -- Authorities in St. Louis are looking for a 5-year-old heart patient whose father took him without permission following the boy’s discharge from a hospital.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports officials at St. Louis Children’s Hospital want to know Jeffery Stone’s intent in driving off with Porter Stone.

Porter, who’s from St. Joseph, is awaiting a heart transplant. He was discharged Tuesday to his parents, who a relative says are estranged.

Police say Jeffery Stone took Porter to their car and called the mother, who was still at the hospital, saying he was taking the boy.
