The 65-year-old Berlin woman, who already has 13 children and seven grandchildren, is due to give birth in the summer
A 65-year-old Berlin woman who already has 13 children is pregnant again with quadruplets, Germany's RTL broadcaster reported on Sunday.
The Russian and English teacher's pregnancy follows several attempts abroad at artificial insemination over the last year-and-a-half, according to the private TV channel.
The woman, Annegret Raunigk, decided to try to have another child because her youngest daughter, who is nine, wanted a little brother or sister, the channel said on its website.

(13,468 posts)But I would think this would be too risky, and that she isn't as in need of this as a woman in her child-birth years desperate to be a mother. I would hope this lady would receive some counseling since she already has a large family and is not content with that and letting the normal course of life proceed.

Their children won't have any grandparents and won't know what 'grandparent' even means.

(3,208 posts)I take care of my grandsons, ages 5 and 7 while my daughter works. When they go home, I am ready to collapse!
I had three kids and if the youngest would have told me she wanted a younger sibling I would have told her that is not happening, our family was complete when she was born!

(3,998 posts)who is 53 and dying to get pregnant. She's had 6 miscarriages, no kids. I feel bad for her, she's single, living in a residential motel, works the graveyard at Target stocking, has Lupus and other health issues. She still wants kids though. And no, she hasn't been through menopause yet.

(30,253 posts)I thought that this would be the story of someone who wasn't able to conceive in the past and this was her last chance to do so. Talk about a high risk pregnancy!!! 65 and pregnant with quadruplets? Good luck to her and the babies.
