WIBC (Indianapolis) will no longer carry Rush Limbaugh

Source: Indianapolis Star

Indianapolis news radio station WIBC will no longer carry The Rush Limbaugh Show because the parent companies of the station and show decided not to renew its contract.

WIBC 93.1 FM, owned by Emmis Communications, has aired the conservative radio personality's show from 12 to 3 p.m. on weekdays, but the last show in Indianapolis will air on July 3.

Emmis and the owner of The Rush Limbaugh Show, Premiere Networks, announced the decision on Monday.

... Emmis has not yet announced what programming will fill the time slot. The press release did not say why the companies are ending the partnership.

... Despite the hefty price tag, “this was not primarily a financial decision,” said Charlie Morgan, Emmis’ local market manager.

“It’s not an inexpensive show to air, so there is a business element to the decision,” Morgan said. “But this has more to do with the long-term direction of the station.”

... Emmis officials could not immediately provide ratings numbers for the Limbaugh show. Still, Emmis officials say that the program, which airs from noon to 3 p.m. weekdays, is no longer the runaway ratings king among WIBC shows as it once was.

It's a shame they are stuck in a state that does. If I had to drive through the state I would only stop in the city then I'd keep driving straight through to the other end.

My Small city just passed an ordinance adding LGBT to our human rights ordinance. It hasn't been a problem in this city, but the council felt it was important to send a message.

WXLW 950, a 5 kW day/36 watt night station, could pick up Rush after WIBC drops the show. Meanwhile, Rush's Cincinnati affiliate WLW 700 and Louisville affiliate WHAS 840 are both 50 kW Class A stations that can be picked up in Indy. But the advertisers' revenue will be wasted on distant listeners who'll never buy their products!

a bit late. Limbaugh has amassed a fortune peddling hate and appealing to the worst of humanity. He's laughing all the way to the Dominican Republic to buy little boys with suitcases full of cash.

It's easy to check out who advertises on that station and never give them my business again.

It's that the pig is carried on Armed Forces Radio. THAT is inexcusable because my tax dollars pay for it and, like the vicious and useless wars, there is no way to opt out.

That's what kills me. He bashes the Commander in Chief yet remains part of the programming. There should be respect for the office if nothing else. Pure partisan hackery.
