Snip: Speaking about Saturday's events to IBTimes UK, Savett said: "Across the country, hundreds of union members, environmentalists, small business owners, progressives and community allies will gather to rally, phone banks, canvass, gather petition signatures and write their members of Congress asking them to maintain their leverage over trade policy and oppose fast track, which would pave the way for lower wages and fewer jobs."
The events will be held "wherever there is community support to speak out against fast track and wherever there is an opportunity to influence a member of Congress", Savett added.
The AFL-CIO has also announced it is launching a six-figure advertising campaign targeting 16 Senators and 36 Representatives. Savett did not clarify which members of Congress the AFL-CIO would target specifically, but said it would be "anyone who hasn't expressly come out in opposition to fast track."
According to Savett, the AFL-CIO will begin its advertising campaign with digital adverts and will run through August. The adverts will encourage visitors to contact their Congress member and voice their opposition to the fast track Bill.

The TPP is egregiously hostile to Dem principles protecting American labor, environment, net neutrality & copyrights, food safety, generic drug pricing... big et cetera. It is a corporate take over (and bottomless taxpayer financial liability) of American sovereignty and our national economy to global tribunals. Wait til Trans Canada sues America for all the money they've "lost" by stopping Keystone XL (or the Koch Bros under some shell "inversion" suing America for the one hundred billion they're going to lose by owning both ends of Keystone XL(land in Canada, tax free zone refineries in TX) Or Big Tobacco for city laws against smoking or any
"made in America or local" label. Oh yeah, and US taxpayers are put on the debt end of global derivatives with the TPP.
If labor really wants to make a statement, they are among the few organized Dem powers with the microphone and the finances to show Dem legislators that they face serious consequences back home for betraying the Dem brand and those who voted for them
Start with phoney liberal Wyden.
The Trade Deficit is far more damaging to working Americans than the National Debt.
