Liberty Island, home of Statue of Liberty, evacuated

The Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island in New York have been evacuated, the National Park Service has said.
The island is home to the world-famous statue, a major tourist destination for people visiting the United States.
"They are doing a security sweep," a spokesperson for the National Park Service told the BBC, but refused to say what they were looking for.
The New York Police Department said it has harbour units at the scene, along with the National Park Service.
The city's fire department said it had been called at 12:57 local time (16:57 GMT) for the investigation of "a suspicious package".
