Cheney praises cardiology advances

Source: Washington Post

A month after receiving a heart transplant at Inova Fairfax Hospital, a vigorous-looking former vice president Richard B. Cheney told an audience of cardiologists he felt “uniquely blessed” that his 35-year battle with heart disease had so neatly tracked the arc of medical progress.

“My disease was able to stay sort of right behind developments .?.?. in the field of cardiology,” he said. “So that about the time I needed something new because of progression in my own disease, it was there and I was able to take advantage of it.”

Cheney, 71, accepted the invitation from the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute to address the gathering of physicians — including several who had operated on him — long before he learned he would be getting the transplant.

He recounted a life punctuated with medical close calls that, “if they’d occurred a couple of years sooner .?.?. I wouldn’t be here today.”

Is there anything possible an average citizen can do to keep Cheney from being here today?

(Hmmm Sounds like something the left wing thinking man's Ted Nugent might say?)

If only there was no Dick Cheney back on 2000 to appoint himself to run with GW Bush! In terms of magnitude of human misery this man has inflicted on the planet per GW Bush year, this man is up there with prostate cancer and auto accidents. Not as pernicious as heart disease, to his credit.

Are medical advances worth the risk of keeping someone as vile as Cheney alive. Cheney would be long dead in the 19th Century Conservatives want to return to.

And that we over here agree (generally) on that point is what makes us better than them. The 19thCC that compose our opposition can't see through to the other side of the decisions that they would make. Its a kind of mental immaturity, and it exists because "father-figures" like good ole' Dickey keep doing their thinking for them. On that note, the very best thing that could happen to that party is for Reid to abolish Dual-Tracking in the Senate, and put them out in the political Wilderness (for REAL) for a couple of election cycles; it would be like moving out of your parents house=)

And the handful of others who could game the system to get access to the care denied most in your situation. It's too bad the many other needy recipients aren't rich, white, former vice-presidents. If you weren't one of those, I doubt you'd still be here.

Back in Dracula's time, one stake through the heart and you were a goner, but now with modern cardiology,
they can replace the damaged heart with one from one of the living, making vampires virtually indestructible.

Then we got you and yours. "Dick Cheney. He arrived. He hurt more people than he ever helped. He left."

had his ticker given out a decade sooner the world might have been a safer place for all. He and his cronies are personally responsible for the lives of the thousands of Americans killed in Iraq, the thousands of innocent civilians killed in Iraq, the thousands of Americans wounded and maimed in that conflict. He is evil. There is no other word to describe him.

As a Christian I try to include him in my prayers but when you see such evil, unfettered and unabashed, like Satan himself, in your midst, it is really hard.

I keep trying..............
