North Korean defence minister executed: S.Korea intelligence

Source: AFP

Seoul (AFP) - North Korean Defence Minister Hyon Yong-Chol has been executed by anti-aircraft fire for disloyalty and showing disrespect to leader Kim Jong-Un, South Korea's intelligence agency said Wednesday.

Hundreds of officials watched Hyon's execution on April 30, Han Ki-Beom, the deputy director of the National Intelligence Agency (NIS), told a parliamentary committee, the Yonhap news agency reported.

Hyon, who was appointed to the post of Minister of the People's Armed Forces less than a year ago, was apparently caught dozing off during formal military events and also talked back to Kim Jong-Un on several occasions, Yonhap said.

The Yonhap report was based on a briefing by a ruling Saenuri party lawmaker who attended the parliamentary committee meeting.

This regime WILL fall one day - tho I wouldn't venture even a wild guess as to how that will play out.

Un: that guy really makes me angry.

Un: I mean he freaking fell asleep during my speech! MY speech!!!

yes man: yes, dear leader speaker of words that make doves cry.

Un: I, er, what? Never mind. Guns won't be enough!! It has to be bigger, deadlier, gruesome and a statement!!!

yes man: yes dear leader of military insight of which there is no equal.

Un: Big guns, really big guns!!!! Anti-aircraft guns!! boom boom boom, like in those old WWII American movies!!!

yes man: yes dear leader of massive over reaction to trifling things...

It may take a few years. It all depends when and if the Chinese determine he is "bad for business". Or perhaps Kim will die in a coup d'etat in the next five minutes. It can end a million different ways, but this whole freaky totalitarian-commie-death cult of personality will end badly one day. It's weird, fascinating, and sad that it continues in 2015.

They want to assert their right to have a buffer zone between themselves and South Korea. Also they would likely lose all their mining rights in North Korea to rare earth minerals, coal, and whatever else they are digging up. When the wheels do come off it is going to be a f***ing mess because of the problems North Korea has and trying to stop a mass migration of people out of the country.

You don't regularly execute top military officials if your regime is stable. Me thinks we are seeing Communism's last dynasty unravel.

he's worried about a coup happening when he leaves the country. Since historically that's often how they happen Kim Jong Un isn't taking any chances. He knows he's losing control.

The Egyptians did it.

The Romans did it.

North Korea claimed flowers bloomed, stars aligned and birds sang upon the birth of these divine beings. When Kim Jong Il died they claimed the skies over a sacred mountain turned red, a frozen lake cracked and a crane flew around his statue.
