Texas governor signs law to prohibit local fracking bans

Source: Al Jazeera

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday signed a bill into law that prohibits cities and towns from banning an oil drilling practice known as hydraulic fracking, giving the state sole authority over oil and gas regulation.

Lawmakers in Texas, a state that is home to the two of the most productive U.S. shale oil fields, have been under pressure to halt an anti-fracking movement since November, when voters in the town of Denton voted to ban the oil and gas extraction technique. Residents near the 270 gas wells there had told Al Jazeera they suffered from nosebleeds and nausea that they said they believed resulted from fracking byproducts.

"This law ensures that Texas avoids a patchwork quilt of regulations that differ from region to region, differ from county to county or city to city," Abbott, a Republican, said in a statement.

In fracking, a mixture of pressurized water, sand and chemicals is directed at rock to unlock oil and natural gas. Operators say it is safe because, but many environmental groups oppose the practice, calling it wasteful, polluting, dirty and noisy.

Texans can handle any little tremor.

In other words, Abbott is saying, "Fuck Texans and the horses they ride in on."

Abbott is just as dumb as Perry, if not worse. They sure pick em down yonder,eh? So if they continue fracking, the whole damn state is going to collapse, forcing water from down below upward, creating a lake of sludge. I expect the state to be uninhabitable within 10-20 years. All in the name of that GOP oil profit. WOW. And the GOP screws over average Americans again, and again.

The frackers.

Or refuse to serve them, house them, serve them dirty water in restaurants. Treat them like the pond scum they create.

Next, the school vouchers vote, will be become known to Texans. They will see their taxes going to new charter schools, private schools and new religious private schools, that have no accountability to parents, the community or taxpayers.

Bluing in Texas will commence, as more cuts to services and the state budget moves to a deeper red.

If it can happen in Texas it can happen in every state that has a Republican Governor.
Are we to kill off our drinking water, our Lakes, Rivers and fisheries.

rights to everything below the surface. Including especially in Texas and other fracking states. I have no idea how many new subdivisions might be in this particular community, but the owners might have absolutely no legal right to stop oil companies from literally drilling and fracking right under their homes from nearby sites.

That's aside from whatever rights the state government takes away from all Texans, of course.

I sure hope this builds major reaction at the polls, though. We do still have the legal right, after all, to revolt there every 2 years.

Those are the overall themes.
So Reps have always wanted big gov.
