Jim Bob Duggar Didn't Report Son Josh's Alleged Sex Offenses For More Than A Year
Source: intouchweekly
~snip~
The report has been hidden since 2006 and was just obtained by the mag through a Freedom of information Act request. Jim Bob also refused to allow police to interview Josh when they opened a felony investigation in 2006. The Duggars star on TLCs hit show 19 Kids and Counting.
Other bombshells in the police report are: Josh Duggar was investigated for multiple sex offenses including forcible fondling against five minors. Some of the alleged offenses investigated were felonies. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were interview by the Springdale Police department on Dec. 12, 2006. The report says that James told police he was alerted in March, 2002 by a female minor that Josh who turned 14-years-old that month had been touching her breasts and genitals while she slept. This allegedly happened on multiple occasions. In 2006, Jim Bob told police that in July, 2002 Josh admitted to fondling a minors breasts while she slept. James said that they disciplined (redacted, Josh) after this incident. The family did not alert authorities.
Jim Bob told police that about nine months later in March, 2003 there was another incident. Josh was again accused by a female minor of touching her breasts and genitals. Josh was accused by several minors of touching their genitals, often when they slept, but at times when they were awake.
Jim Bob then met with the elders of his church and told them what was going on. No one alerted the police or any other law enforcement agency. Instead they decided to send Josh to a program [that] consisted of hard physical work and counseling. James said that [redacted, Josh] was in the program from March 17, 2003 until July 17, 2003.

(10,500 posts)I also have to wonder how he was ever in a position to molest anyone, given the tight leash that the kids are kept under. I always assumed that they are not allowed out of the house alone, lest they be tempted to sin. But maybe that is only the girls.

(10,500 posts)his sisters. One more wasn't. She is the one whose parents pushed for action. But it appears that by then it was too late because the statute of limitations had expired. Actually, they ran out the clock with the help of a cop (who is now in jail for possession of child pornography). I think that the case was re-opened when someone from Oprah's staff notified law enforcement.

(14,449 posts)Obviously a minor is supposed to be sealed of all crimes. I think he needed help but now at his age this is not helping anybody.

(108,978 posts)He was not 30 or 40 or 50 -- or even 21. He was a kid, and molesting girls not that far from him in age (since they had breasts).
What he did was wrong, obviously. But I hold the parents more responsible than the 14 year old.

(65,357 posts)confusion and hormonal turmoil of puberty needs parents who will explain what is going on, why he is experiencing unfamiliar urges, and how they can be dealt with in appropriate ways.
In his family he learned that any possible sexual outlets (and probably sexual feelings or thoughts as well) were sinful and cause for shame. With no guidance and no supervision, he acted out inappropriately, because he had several potential victims available and as the oldest in a family in which the parents expected their kids to pretty much raise each other, he was probably given a lot of authority over his siblings--and as a male, he also absorbed the family's assumption, reinforced by their religion, that females exist mainly to look up to, serve, and obey men.
I have a (now adult) son. We have always communicated comfortably about everything. As a teen, especially a young teen, he was full of questions and concerns, but he always could bring them to me with no fear of being mocked or shamed. In fact, his teenaged friends, both male and female, also brought me the questions and problems they didn't feel comfortable asking their own parents about, because their parents were either too unavailable or too embarrassed to help them.
Heck, one of my college students, a freshman girl away from her fundamentalist family and church for the first time, asked me to help her buy sanitary pads (not tampons, because she'd been taught she wouldn't be a virgin if she used them). She had been made to feel furtive and embarrassed about menstruation, and since her mother always provided her pads, she was too embarrassed to go into the store and buy them herself.
I bet that a lot of boys who are not offered information or guidance to help them understand and deal with the overwhelming feelings and urges they suddenly experience as they go through puberty--especially in our hypersexualized, misogynistic, patriarchal culture--end up crossing the line in their early adolescence as Josh Duggar did. And his family's religious extremism sure wouldn't have helped any, either.

Dinah---
When Jacob's family prepares to descend to Egypt Genesis 46:8-27, the Torah lists the 70 family members who went down together. Simeon's children include "Saul, the son of the Canaanite woman."[10] The medieval French rabbi Rashi hypothesized that this Saul was Dinah's son by Shechem.[10] He suggests that after the brothers killed all the men in the city, including Shechem and his father, Dinah refused to leave the palace unless Simeon agreed to marry her[10] and remove her shame (according to Nachmanides, she only lived in his house and did not have sex with him). Therefore, Dinah's son is counted among Simeon's progeny, and he received a portion of land in Israel in the time of Joshua. The list of the names of the families of Israel in Egypt is repeated in Exodus 6:14-25.
Lot and his daughters---
Genesis 19:30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
And just were did Cane and Seth get their wives when Adam and Eve and children were the ONLY people on the earth..
Genesis 4 tells of the birth of Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve's first children, while Genesis 5 gives Adam's genealogy past that. Adam and Eve are listed as having three children, Cain, Abel and Seth, then "other sons and daughters".[Gen 5:4] According to the Book of Jubilees, Cain married his sister Awan, a daughter of Adam and Eve.[25]
When children are taught that males are to be worship and listen too like they have the voice of God and you have a mother too business doing her ONLY duty God placed her on earth for to bring forth children it makes one wonder what OTHER skeletons are in the Duggar closet.

Josh has one daughter and another one on the way, due in July. And they plan on following in his parents' footsteps--no birth control, God will decide how big their family ultimately becomes. So he is going to have a lot of daughters. A lot.
