Malloy Makes It Official: His Choice Is Hillary

Source: Hartford Courant

It’s not a recent decision, nor is it a surprise. But the time has come to go public: With the legislative session over, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is endorsing Hillary Clinton for president Sunday.

"I've been an admirer of hers for many years, going back to when she was first lady. I want to see her get elected president. I also think she is the best candidate the Democrats could run. I think she is one of the most experienced candidates that any party has run," Malloy said.

Clinton was elected U.S. senator from New York in 2000 as her husband's presidency was winding down. After losing the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, she joined the administration of Barack Obama as secretary of state.

“I’ve known the Clintons for a long time. I think she is the best prepared candidate, and I’m really excited about helping her get elected president,” Malloy said.

I hope this isn't too late or been posted before. Connecticut is a BIG blue state - Governor, all Constitutional officers, all five Congressional members and two Senators - but this is good news.

I've worked for Malloy, met him a number of times, he's a great guy and an honest politician - what he says is "golden" to me.

I'm also unable to justify why I bothered to post about it.

Don't you get it? The highest office in the world does matter to us. It's not a popularity contest. Real life consequences for most of us that dread Bush loving Clintons getting the White House back. Complain and belittle all you want while we fight for our rights.

It's hard to assign gravitas to a guy I'd never heard of. I'm sure he's a fine Democratic politician, but there's just no resonance.

His choice doesn't really change my opinion of him-----I just don't like Malloy. For the record, I live in CT.

14. Does not keep campaign promises

horrible public speaker, seems like the type of politician that's just in it for him. I'm sure he's looking for a position in a potential Clinton adminstration. Heard some stories about him when he was Stamford mayor. They were first-hand stories from people I trust and know well. Malloy is a diva, they said, and often rude and arrogant.

15. Thanks....was just wondering. I live in CT too, and campaigned for him....

....I know he can sometimes come off as brusque, but I think that has a lot to do with his earlier life.

He's not the best speaker, but he's unable to work from notes. In my mind, he kept as many of his campaign promises that he was able. Unfortunately he was left with a bigger hole than anyone could have imagined, and he warned in his first campaign that he would be raising taxes. It turns out that Jodi Rell did virtually nothing during her last two years or so - it's been said that she spent less than 10 hours a MONTH working as "governor" - that leaves a huge hole in the government he inherited.

Serious question. I'd like to know what specifically you have on him.

"I want to be very clear: We're not raising taxes. That’s the last thing we will do, if we have to, and only then to protect the safety net.”

So no, he never said he would not raise taxes.
