Al Jazeera America accused of bias against non-Arabs and women

Source: Associated Press

The former head of Al Jazeera America’s documentary unit has sued the news network, claiming it is biased against non-Arabs and women in stories that it produces and in how it treats employees.

Shannon High-Bassalik, fired in February after working through half of a three-year contract, said the network’s recently ousted chief executive, Ehab Al Shihabi, left meetings when women were speaking and admitted that he tried to favor an Arab point of view on the air to please Ajam’s Qatar-based ownership.

Al Jazeera America called High-Bassalik’s accusations unfounded and said she made none of them during an investigation of her employment record conducted by an outside law firm.

I expect it to be biased.
More biased than the multi-headed hydra that's Rupert Murdoch's domain?
I doubt it. I think it's probably the same.
More biased than the MSM medusa of general "corporate capital", which includes Murdoch? Probably the same.

Do I think that the US court system is unbiased? I most certainly do not.

of recent years - Borderlands, and the more recent Hard Earned. Greatly enjoyed both series.

I can't speak to the allegations here, but as a network, they seem to do MUCH better at covering stories of human interest than ANY of our domestic news sources. IMHO.

Of course they're going to run a lot of pro Arab stories. That's who they are.

I'm not surprised women are disrespected. That's something they're going to have to work on in this culture if they want to stay.

What I do like about AJA is their avoidance of loaded language when they report basic news stories. I find it refreshing. I remember when network news was like that.

Aljazeera reports from the Arab World and all over the world. They have better international news than any other cable news station.
Their special reports on the US Border, Mass Incarceration of Blacks in America, and other relevant topics are excellent. I am so grateful to the royal family of Qatar for bringing Aljazeera to America. We watch daily.
