Issa escorted out of Benghazi deposition
Source: The Hill
Former House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) tried to crash former Hillary Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthals deposition before the House Select Committee on Benghazi on Tuesday.
Issa marched into the closed-door deposition and remained inside for about a minute before he was escorted out by the panels chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.).
The pair briefly exchanged hushed words in a nearby hallway before Issa stormed off, throwing an empty soda can into a nearby trash bin.

(106,886 posts)Yet, he gets elected. Go figure...
His district's demographics are changing, though. Even with blatant redistricting actions, he may be open to a well run (D) challenge.

(2,574 posts)Our coastal liberal Encinitas ( including Cardiff by the Sea& Leucadia) got swept up into Issa's district in the last redistricting, so I'm pretty familiar with his boundaries. La Jolla (home of the Romney's) is in a demographically Dem district, tho you'd almost never see that in the voting record of Scott Peters.
But you're spot on about the "car elevator" mentality. Issa reps Rancho Santa Fe whose self-entitled rich residents currently in the news for defiantly INCREASING their water usage 9% (drought cuts for them were targeted at 34%) and loudly bemoaning the unfairness to them of the "forced browning" of their multiacre estates and their golf courses. By comparison neighboring Encinitas water district cut it's usage 24% (target 28%) which was the second best voluntary drought response in SD County

(32,898 posts)Votes red. It makes me crazy that they actually increased their water usage. I wonder what they'll do when they turn the faucet on and nothing comes out.
They could easily install turf or something else that is esthetically nice and use NO water. The entitlement attitude of these people is infuriating.

(5,902 posts)As it happens, I lived in Issa's district some years ago.
It may seem hard to believe now, considering how his career in the Congressional GOP vaulted out of all proportion; but he was actually a nearly-unknown underdog in the 2000 GOP primary for the open seat, which everyone from the OC Register to your average Limbaugh-listening, anchor baby-bemoaning church lady assumed would go to State Senator Bill Morrow.
Just before the primary though, Darrell Issa placards began appearing in all the major South Orange County thoroughfares -literally every ten feet- with the picture of a square-jawed, chiseled-chin All-American type with a Cheshire Cat grin.
It was a photo of another man.
This may seem like a trivial detail; but remember that this is South Orange County, where the Aryan aesthetic is still the currency of the realm among many of the district's Republican voters (Joseph Mengele is said by some researchers to have lived and practiced in Laguna Beach sometime in the '60s). Had voters realized at the time that the enterprising Mr. Issa is of Lebanese heritage, I can assure that -barring some scandal on Morrow's part- he would have lost. The rest, as you know, is history.

That goes for Gowdy, Issa, and the rest of the tea and republican party.
When I think of the good they could be doing with their time, and they go out of their way to NEVER do good and ALWAYS do harm
Shit i wish everybody else would get pissed off

Darrell Issa: Terrorisms Manchurian Candidate
By Debbie Schlussel
Im a proud conservative Republican from Michigan, but Im appealing to Californians of all political stripes not to support the recall of Gov. Gray Davis.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista)funder of the recall effort and the only announced candidate to replace Davismight be the contemporary, real-life version of Frank Sinatras Manchurian Candidate. Instead of communists, Issas allies are radical Islamists and supporters of terrorism against Americans, Israelis, Christians and Jews.
In a short political career, Issas statements and actions consistently defend terrorists, terrorist groups and terrorist sponsor states.
Saudi Arabias longtime lobbyist, James Gallagher, contributed to Issas campaign in November 2002, and Issa tried to overturn key classified evidence portions of President Bill Clintons 1995 counterterrorism bill. Issa is also credited with declawing the Patriot Act.
Then, theres Issas dance with Hezbollah, an organization that is on the State Departments terrorist list and one of the largest components of Al Qaeda. In the 1980s, Hezbollahwhich means Party of Allahmurdered more than 260 U.S. Marines while they slept in Beirut and tortured to death Col. Richard Higgins (in 1990) and CIA attache William Buckley.

There's no nexus between that ass and Hizb'allah, which are Shi'a and historically funded substantially by Iran. A lot of people went to visit Assad around that time (to include Speaker Pelosi). No one in the WH griped, because -- I suspect -- they were carrying messages of a diplomatic nature along with the whole grip and grin business.
Also, notwithstanding who Assad may have given money to, for geopolitical reasons (he has always had his eye on Lebanon), he's an Alawi (and they are a weird brand of faith, Shi'a-ish, but a real Heinz 57 in their belief system).
There's not a lot of love between the Sunni-Wahhabi clowns in SA and the Shi'a leadership in Iran...both think that they deserve control of the holy places in MandM, and the House of Saud has a firm grip on that franchise.
This is conspiracy theory crap. A bridge too far...and I really dislike Issa, so it's uncomfortable to defend the asshole from these charges, but this is just absurd. He's sufficiently a jerk without making stuff up about him. Who is that lunatic writing this stuff? The GOP replacement for Coulter?
