N.B.A. Finals 2015: Warriors Win Title, Beating Cavaliers

Source: NY Times

The Golden State Warriors won the N.B.A. championship on Tuesday night, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-97, to win the series, four games to two.

It was the first title for the Warriors since 1975.

The victory denied a championship to LeBron James, who returned this season to Cleveland after four seasons and two titles with the Miami Heat. The city of Cleveland has not won a major sports championship since the Browns won the N.F.L. title in 1964.

The Warriors entered the playoffs as the favorite after a league-best 67-15 season. Led by the league’s most valuable player, Stephen Curry, and his All-Star backcourt partner, Klay Thompson, the Warriors cruised through the first three rounds of the playoffs, winning 12 games and losing three.

They beat the Indian-no-place Dolts. Payless threw two picks in the fourth quarter, one a Pick Six and the other in the end zone.

They should put this Finals on DVD and send a copy free (or as close to it as possible) to every youth sports league in America, as an object lesson: No one can win by himself, at least for very long.

LeBron's major problem was, the Warriors brought a decently-balanced professional basketball team and the Cavs brought LeBron James and eleven guys from the YMCA of Cleveland.

- Lost starting center for the season in December (Anderson Varijou)
- Lost "All Star" Kevin Love in first round (some Boston WNBA Player yanked his shoulder out of it's socket)
- Lost "All Star" Kyrie Irving in first game of Finals

I'm a long suffering Cleveland Sports fan, and if nothing else, this experience just proves that, if there is a Sports God...HE "EFFING" HATES CLEVELAND

Still, not complaining. CAVs would have been playing the NBA Lottery again this year if LeBron doesn't come back.

Anyway, it will just make the celebration that much sweeter....FOR MY GREAT, GREAT, GREAT GRANDCHILDREN when either the Browns, CAVs or Indians finally win it all.

Dellavedova did a nice job replacing Irving after he went down in Game 1. But yeah, pretty much 10 guys from the Cleveland Y. Or as one wag put it, "the cast of a touring company production of Les Misérables".

as someone who saw the hawks squeak win from his beloved Tampa bay Lightning, I salute the Warriors. I am glad to see one set of underdogs win a championship. As far as King James goes, he will go on, and in the process reveal why he is a blight to sports,an arrogant peacock that will attempt to make a team and a sport all about him. King, you will never be to any city with Mike was to Chicago, or Bird was to Boston, or even Kobe was to LA, because you made it clear that the towns you play for are just there to feed your ego. Go ahead and see how that sort of attitude served Brett Favre after he backstabbed Green bay, only to see Green Bay do just fine without him.

LeBron's easily the best player since Jordan, but it's pretty hard to win a basketball game playing 1v5. That he was able to do it twice is impressive in and of itself.

because...Lebron. Sorry, but sportsmanship has little room for his me, me, me, arrogance.
And the results of these playoffs "don't lie"
Yes, he's a great player, but the better TEAM won.

And, with the US Women's World Cup (group) win also yesterday, it was a fine day for sports.

I didn't care a lot until the Cavaliers pulled that stunt with the video. Then I was for whoever was playing against them. And still will be for a long time.

I'm also happy for Iguodala. I liked him in Philly and wish we would have kept him. He's much better off where he is now though, that's for sure!
