2 boys rescue young children from burning home in Florida

Source: AP

OAKLAND, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say two boys rescued two young children from a burning mobile home in central Florida.

Ten-year-old Isiah Francis and 11-year-old Jeremiah Grimes rushed in to a neighbor's home around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Orange County after a fire broke out and rescued a 1-year-old and an 8-month-old.

Isiah and Jeremiah say the smoke inside the home was so thick they could barely see.

Fire officials say two other children, ages 2 and 5, who live in the home were injured. One was taken to the hospital via medical helicopter. They were both in critical but stable condition at Arnold Palmer Hospital.

FULL short story at link.

An adult was in the home. It doesn't say if bedridden, drunk, etc...?

I'm very glad that they were able to rescue those babies. But it was pure luck.

What they did was dangerous, yes. But it is obvious that had empathy - the concern for others - and that kicked in. Often in an emergency, instinct actually does kick in and you act without thinking. I think their parents should be terrifically proud of their kids (after the relief that they are both OK subsides).
