Rick Santorum: White Supremacist Was Attacking Religion, Not Black People

Source: Addicting Info

Right-wing domestic terrorists exist in this country and white supremacists are part of the pack, but you wouldn’t know it the way conservative “Christian” Rick Santorum talks.

During a radio interview with Joe Piscopo, Santorum made remarks about the South Carolina mass shooting that left nine people dead at an historical black church.

Even though right-wing terrorist Dylann Roof has been identified as a white supremacist who purposefully walked into Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday to kill African-Americans in attendance, Santorum claimed that the terrorist attack is all about waging war on Christianity and further stated that Roof chose his victims “indiscriminately.”

“It’s obviously a crime of hate. We don’t know the rationale, but what other rationale could there be? You’re sort of lost that someone would walk into a Bible study at a church and indiscriminately kill people. This is one of those situations where you have to take a step a back and say — you talk about the importance of prayer at this time, and we’re now seeing assaults on religious liberty we’ve never seen before. So, it’s a time for deeper reflection even beyond this horrible situation.”

Jerry Sandusky and Josh Duggar's pal has no shame.

Just another conservative trying to provide political cover for racism.

Also, Joe Piscopo has a show? What is it with washed-up 80s SNL folks turning into rightwing nuts?

Doesn't Frothy Rick watch the news?

Roof probably went to the church either because of its historical significance or because he knew it would be open, people would be there, and they wouldn't expect any kind of attack. Not because he wanted to kill Christians. He wanted to kill black people and he knew where to find them in what they thought would be a safe place.

stupid. He is trying to divert the attention from terrible racial issues the GOP has to a religious thing. It could be both but if you are trying to start a race war and not a Christian war.

my head in disbelief at this passenger from the clown bus. The is one of the major reasons racism will not dealt with seriously in this country because of seriously mentally ill sociopaths like this disguising themselves as 'religious' and using religion in ways, that if there is a 'god' somewhere he'll have to answer to. Get your fucking asbestos suit ready you POS! I am beginning to not take our democracy seriously at all, given it has bred the racism and racists like this for generations.

Licking the boots of Fox and GOP Iowa racist and Fox addled primary voters is mandatory for a Presidential candidate.....who will talk about the obvious truth?

Radicalization by ISIS? Terrorism helpers.

Radiation by Hate Radio and TV and domestic terrorist cells? Mental illness???

No.

Terrorism and it should be fought with the same vigor as ISIS radicalization.

Of course, there is such a thing . . . but Christians are not the victims. Someone needs to introduce Santorum to a band of ISIS guys so he understands what bona fide persecution is.

persecution, which is NOT real in this country, by the way? Easy answer is so they can ignore the real, systematic racism that is still faced by the large swath of minorities in this country, the most visible of which are African-Americans.

"Its not about race" is a fucking cop out. You have deep problems in our culture, our politics, our debates, and our society regarding race. We ignore the problems, ignore or denigrate possible solutions, and perpetuate stereotypes. Its fucking awful.
