Vatican signs first treaty with 'State of Palestine', Israel angered

Source: Reuters

The Vatican signed its first treaty with the "State of Palestine" on Friday, calling for "courageous decisions" to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and backing a two-state solution.

The treaty, which made official the Vatican's de facto recognition of Palestine since 2012, angered Israel, which called it "a hasty step (that) damages the prospects for advancing a peace agreement".

Israel also said it could have implications on its future diplomatic relations with the Vatican.

The accord, which concerns the Catholic Church's activities in areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority, also confirmed the Vatican's increasingly proactive role in foreign policy under Pope Francis. Last year, it brokered the historic resumption of ties between the United States and Cuba.

At least under Bibi there is little to condone about many of their official stances. They are all for war and killing and racist practices but do not believe in tolerance or getting along and compassion is totally out of the question.

30. Terrorism is a politically charged, loaded term

outside of the psychological warfare group Al-Qaeda & affiliates it is often used on rebels fighting whoever the government in charge is. In theory the American Revolutionaries could easily be considered terrorists in consistent with the use it is in modern times. The day Israel was recognized by Truman it was attacked by several countries such as Iraq on the same day that it was. This is more of a formal conflict -- could be considered a civil war.

Depend on how you define the term, they tend to box it in to fit this in there while leaving anybody appropriate out. Like what if US is called a terrorist state? To me it doesn't matter because what it is the damage, what are the actions, etc. Human rights take a back seat so weapons dealers can give the brutal regimes their weapons to use against the populists or anyone not on board with sharing the wealth with the US or Britain. I'm not sure why the very pro-Israel policy of the US outside of saying domestic politics is a very big reason, there is a strong political pressure to back Israel right or wrong based on a lot of believers in Christian doomsday theories. I'm saying it doesn't make a lot of sense given that mostly anything else can easily be explained by business but the addition of the "Zionist State" was a divide and conquer ploy from Sykes-Picot.

Either way, it is obvious we create a lot of enemies of the US simply based on what we do, for who, etc. I'm getting off the subject but anyone considered enemy of the state or the other state, depends on which state are the called the terrorists but the state is never called the terrorists. House of Saud -- you should see Wahabbi-Ottoman Wars, Egypt-Wahabbi wars -- in every sense of the word as it is used today they were the original ISIS leaving behind a trail of blood and beheadings who were backed as part of divide & conquer ploy as well by the Sykes-Picot as well but now that they are state no one calls them terrorists when they are bombing a religious minority in Yemen. Yet, if Saudi Arabia is attacked by anyone they are terrorists. Sorry as I say a lot to try to make a point that often is misunderstood but doing my best to answer your question.

An IMF one especially. (Sarcasm)

Kosovo is a country that isn't universally "recognized" but they appear to have to function as a country with the borders they are "recognized" to have but all I know is corruption & poverty is what they have to show for it. Don't know much on the functions unofficial or not -- there are inconsistencies and double standards at play with what counts or what doesn't, especially when they want to erase or change borders from the powers that say what is allowed to exist or not exist. Giving in to "Disaster Capitalism" is a crucial requirement to being allowed to exist or already being friendly to it in the first place. I couldn't care less if they or anybody has an Embassy. Usually filled with spies with diplomatic cover.

If most of the world wants a "2-state" solution, then why haven't more countries recognized Palestine? Don't you need 2 "states" for a "2-state" solution?

Internationally about the same number of states recognize Palestine (135) as recognize Israel (149).

This Pope might be for real but I'm still on a wait for see. It would be unprecedented to truly clean up the amount of corruption that was there. I don't like the idea of a religious philosophy being the primary factor on a foreign policy but unethical & corruption is a much bigger problem if the religious ideas aren't ethical, fairness, equality, and justice. Breaking ties with the US is truly impressive and what is peace to Israel? I don't see how it hurts but helps advancing peace unless Israel is more likely to attack because there is a two-state solution or a treaty or somebody chooses to recognize a boundary -- like Truman recognizing Israel.
