US warns of Russia, China military threat amid growing chaos
Source: Yahoo! News / AFP
Washington (AFP) - America's new military strategy singles out states like China and Russia as aggressive and threatening to US security interests, while warning of growing technological challenges and worsening global stability.
A somber report released Wednesday by General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warns of a "low but growing" probability of the United States fighting a war with a major power, with "immense" consequences.
Russia has "repeatedly demonstrated that it does not respect the sovereignty of its neighbors and it is willing to use force to achieve its goals," the 2015 National Military Strategy says.
"Russia's military actions are undermining regional security directly and through proxy forces."

and thank you for not posting the other map that alleged South Korea having NATO bases.

'"Russia's military actions are undermining regional security directly and through proxy forces."
Imagine if they tried to pull a stunt like that, undermining regimes in South America, directly and through proxies, eh? The scoundrels! Go get 'em, Kissinger. Tell it like it is!

I didn't know much about anything at the time, and the cards were an eye opener.
This is card #3, Fulgienco Batista
President of Cuba
Cuban Army Sergeant Fulgencio Batiste, first seized power in a 1932 coup. He was FDR's handpicked dictator to counteract leftists who had overthrown strongman Gerardo Machado, "the Butcher". Batista ruled for several years, then left for Miami, returning in 1952 just in time for another coup, against elected president Carlos Prio Socorras. His new regime was recognized in a flash by President Eisenhower.
Under Batista, U.S. interests flourished and little was said about democracy. With the loyal support of Batista, Mafioso boss Meyer Lansky developed Havana into an international drug port. Cabinet offices were bought and sold and military officials made huge sums on smuggling and vice rackets. Havana became a fashionable hot spot where America's rich and famous clinked cocktails with mobsters.
As the gap between the rich and poor grew wider, the poor grew impatient. In 1953, Fidel Castro led an armed group of rebels in a failed uprising on the Moncada army barracks. Fidel temporarily fled the country and Batista struck back with a vengeance. Freedom of speech was curtailed and "subversive" teachers, lawyers and public officials were fired from their jobs. Death squads tortured and killed thousands of "communists." Batista was assisted in his crackdown by Lansky and other members of organized crime who believed Castro would jeopardize their gambling and drug trade. Despite this, Batista remained a friend to Eisenhower and the U.S. until he was finally overthrown by Castro in 1959.

(62,530 posts)folks, we fight a different kind of war now.
basically we have been in a world war since 9/11. we were fighting before that, but after 9/11 and the rise of the neo-cons, it went global.
Because of globalization and the over arching control of events by controlled by corporations, each "war" is a battle on a larger scale.
and what kind of war is being waged?
in the old days it was land, air and sea.
Now it's cyber, hot, and global economics.
And what is the final goal?
the control of the people. control of every single aspect of our lives.
and what is Russia and China's involvement?
They want in on that control.
once upon a time, it was need for resources and money that started wars.
now, in our multi-trillion dollar world existence, it's people. Or more likely peoples debt. That's were the money is these days.
think of it as a real life game of risk; control more nations via economic interests, and that's just another nation to check off the list for world domination.
people will die, as usual. collateral damage, don't you know. just faceless people that got in the way of a hostile take over of a nation. hostile take overs of corporations are old school; small peanuts.
most of the worlds "wealth" exists on paper and as long as you have the paper to "prove it" you can invade whom you want when you want. But as I said above, not all always via armies.
no need to invade, just squeeze them enough economically and they give up.
for those who control the people; they control the economy of the world.
This is why I truly hope Greece votes NO. Otherwise if they vote yes, they become a debtor nation for basically the rest of their lives. and in the global war, they will be just another statistic that fell under the rule of the economic elite of the world.
