Big Majority in New Jersey See Christie as a Bad President

Source: Political Wire

A new Monmouth University Poll in New Jersey, taken after Gov. Chris Christie’s presidential announcement, found that “a large majority feels that Christie has abandoned his commitment to the state and few say he is a good fit for the Oval Office.”

Key finding: “Just 27% of New Jerseyans say Chris Christie would make a good president. More than two-thirds (69%) say he would not.”

Matt Bai: “At least he’s not running for reelection as governor. Because with a 30 percent approval rating in New Jersey, Christie is now less popular in his home state than his predecessor, Jon Corzine, whom he beat pretty much by just showing up and having a pulse. If Christie takes a liking to bucolic New Hampshire, he might consider moving there.”

I must agree with my friends from NJ. Christie would be a disaster. He might not start any foreign wars but he'd sure start some domestic ones.

being a bad governor if not a disqualification from running for president. Reagan and Bush showed that.

Maybe he thinks that being a Presidential candidate will make him seem respectable. I can't figure out why else he would running this pointless campaign. He's a national joke.

by saying that the people of New Jersey did not want him to leave the state. Some of the best logic he can come up with. I actually saw him say this in an interview when asked about the poll results. Nothing if not inventive.

he was ruining us! Then Perry got in and showed his complete incompetence.

Now Abbott is selling it all off and it's more batshit than ever.

So see, it can always get worse...

Things can get worse. Being the eternal optimist I like to think they can always get better for instance, I I think Jon Stewart came from New Jersey.
Good to converse with you again.

As a New Jerseyan, I sometimes peruse the comments section of nj.com, which usually has a liberal dosage of kneejerk right-wingers. But in recent memory, I have not seen one Christie-related article where everyone, left and right, was not almost universally trashing him. People hate him for a variety of reasons- his corruptness, his messing with state pensions, his misusing Sandy money while people still suffer- but it from reading those comments I would easily say that 90% of the population despises him.
