Cosby said he got drugs to give women for sex
Source: AP
PHILADELPHIA (AP) Bill Cosby admitted in a 2005 deposition that he obtained Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with. He admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman.
The Associated Press went to court to compel the release of the documents, and they were made public Monday. Cosby's lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.
The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.
Cosby settled that sexual-abuse lawsuit for undisclosed terms in 2006. More than a dozen women have since accused him of sexually assaulting them. Some believe they were also drugged. Cosby has never been criminally charged, and most of the accusations are barred by statutes of limitations.

(57,204 posts)commits a act on a woman on her way up. The fact that all of these women felt like they were the only ones assaulted and were drugged and felt their word against his constant denials and againsta legal juggernaut to get past that very few of any Americans could stand up to. So now that all these names have finally come out so that these women could support each other and add up a chorus that might stand up to the Coz's sometimes nasty denials, the clock has run out.
How do you feel about sex crimes against juveniles not having a statute of limitations for the same reasons I've enumerated? Because most sex crimes against children don't have any time limitations. Why shouldn't it be the same when people of power predate on people perceived as powerless and voiceless, who have no resources to attain justice.

(26,319 posts)for one main reason that being that peoples memories degrade over time and are not reliable, hell peoples memories arent even reliable 100% the day after something happens.
Does the time limitation suck in a case like this? Sure because if Cosby did rape these women he probably wont be brought to justice but alot of other shit happens that sucks in life as well that we cannot do anything about.
Edit: Oh and btw the time thing for children changes from state to state.
Some states it doesnt kick in until they are 18 or so and then they have x number of years after to pursue it.

(26,319 posts)you cannot write or change the law to be retroactive just so you prosecute someone still who slipped through the cracks.
If you want the statute limitations for future cases that occur to be extended, fine whatever go for it.

(38,445 posts)Cosby, giving sworn testimony in the lawsuit accusing him of sexual assaulting Constand at his home in Pennsylvania in 2005, said he got seven quaalude prescriptions in the 1970s. The lawyer for Constand asked if he had kept the sedatives through the 1990s after they were banned but was frustrated by objections from Cosby's lawyer.

"When you got the quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?" lawyer Dolores M. Troiani asked.
"Yes," Cosby answered on Sept. 29, 2005.
"Did you ever give any of these young women the quaaludes without their knowledge?"
Cosby's lawyer again objected, leading Troiani to petition the federal judge to force Cosby to cooperate.....

I hope all the people who were like 'Wellll...it's ONLY 20 women...30 women...40 women...let's wait and see. Funny how they're all coming out at once, after they don't have to prove anything...I think they're looking for a payout" eat their fucking words.

Goddammit, media - use appropriate terminology when you're reporting this.

(9,350 posts)So, it seems that all those people in the media who were claiming all the rape allegations were just part of a witch hunt and a smear campaign against a good man were wrong. Bill Cosby's private life did not mirror his public persona.
Cosby was in fact a hypocrite. He bashed black families for not raising their children right while raping women. It is sad that this all came about in 2015 as a result of a angry black male comedian instead of in 2005 when the allegations were first made public.
Maybe that sexual abuse lawsuit and settlement scared him and caused him to stop drugging and raping women. However, it is possible that he had ten additional years to drug and rape women. That is just sad.

Kinda like extasy is used today?
cstanleytech
(26,319 posts)Was it used for that specific reason in this case? I dont know since I wasnt there but if I were to guess I would lean towards no given all the recent stories we have heard about Bill.
