School to Pay $4.5M Settlement to Bullied Jewish Students
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Jul 10, 2015, 7:42 AM ET

A federal judge approved a $4.5 million settlement between an upstate New York school district and five Jewish students who say they endured years of abuse by classmates who made Holocaust jokes toward them and drew swastikas in hallways and lockers.

One of the five current and former students who testified at a hearing Thursday when the settlement was approved held back sobs as she described becoming suicidal after repeated acts of anti-Semitic bullying.

"I will never be able to get those years of my childhood back," the 17-year-old said, according to the New York Times. "I used to be an outgoing kid who wasn't afraid to talk to people and make new friends."

The lawsuit accused Pine Bush Central School District officials of failing to take action to protect the students from anti-Semitic bullying for years. The students said they were subjected to racial epithets, Nazi salutes and other forms of intimidation.

I dont see many, if ANY, cases of Jews making demands on schools for special treatment or special laws or where they're attacking people in the streets etc etc.

and I spent a few years going to school just down the road. Went to a Bat or Bar mitzvah every weekend for a little over two years because my school district was at least 60% Jewish, mostly reform.

However that being said I do not know the particulars of the case or even much about that school or town, it was the opposite direction of the empty husk we called a city. And some spots in Upstate New York might as well be in the south, so this very well might have merit if it's one of those towns.

11. I was told at an early age that Jews killed Christ. Maybe some Christians are still spreading that.

"Constantine's Sword" By James Carroll is a very good history of Catholic and Jewish history.

"Zealot" by Reza Aslan is a very good book about the early years of the Cult of Christ.

15. KKK in Pine Bush

freedomarchives.org/documents/finder/DOC37_scans/37.smash klan

Also Empire State Militia, John Birch, and the Affirmative Evangelism Fellowship's private school Chapel Field Christian School.

When urban diverse populations move into rural small towns in upstate New York the long history of racism is always present.
On the freedom archives site there are pictures of how powerful and active the KKK has been in Pine Bush New York . And that does not go away. It seethes underground and is passed down through the generations. Since Obama was elected racism has been allowed to grow and fester and exploited cynically by conservative political "leaders" to tap into a base they desperately need.

I lived in Ulster Co. at the time the Klan was active but more secret. Now they have white working folks permission to openly express these feelings. And their kids are have become mini Dylann Roofs on some level. They hear their parents and relatives talking openly in extreme racist and anti-semetic ways. And they bring it to school.
These folks have for generations been on school boards and political
positions. So it is no secret that this goes on and is allowed to go on. Teachers who hold these views allow it. School boards tolerate this in teachers.

In recent years they are getting bolder. They allow their kids to do this. The racism and rage go very deep and goes back very far. There are pockets of this all over this country in small towns and counties every where.

It is brave for the families and children to speak out against this.
I hope they have security and an awareness that the violence and rage deeply engrained in small towns, what used to be rural white dominated counties, is such now that even law enforcement is often
not a safe place to go. Many retired white police do hold these racist fears and reactionary hates.

We left upstate New York long ago because we could not stomach the small town narrow views and prejudices. After 9/11 this became worse in many ways. Areas that were open and welcoming had a faction of deeply racist and bigoted citizens. Racism in New York State is a BIG PROBLEM that is swept under the carpet because it is bad for tourism. But it is surely present and has been growing and becoming more bold. Also the proliferation of Lyme Disease and all that entails is swept under the carpet and often out
right denied because it too is very bad for tourism and business.

Google: Pictures of KKK in Pine Bush New York 1977
It will direct you to the Freedom Archives photos of the Klan
in Pine Bush New York in 1977.
Most likely those families and their descendents are still there.
This is not about kid bullying. This is about bigoted racist Klan
families that are still percolating all over the this country.

their lives. Bullying needs to be addressed in a concerted way and stopped. That said why aren't all children who have been victims getting the same compensation?

3. We are apparently a culture of cowardly bullies. And both our police administrations and our school

officials allow it. I am very afraid of where we are heading in this country. Fascism seems to be the direction. And the same victims will be the targets. There are things that need to be done to stop this but no one wants to do it.

Everyone is afraid to take a stand. Afraid to say that we are heading in the wrong direction in this country. Those kids who are bullying the Jewish children are going to grow up and run this country. (Probably become policemen.)

If any race can be attacked the way we are seeing now and get by with it then who among us is safe?

<My first personal brush with racism came at a Little League game. I was talking to one of the mothers and she made reference to the fact that her son was teased, “You know, because of his last name.” When it became clear that I had no idea what she was talking about she repeated the name and lowered her voice, “Because it’s Hispanic.” I couldn’t have been more shocked. Coming from Southern California, where most classrooms are filled with equal parts Caucasian, African-American, Indian, Asian and Hispanic students, I just didn’t get it.

It wasn’t until my kids got older that I started hearing rumbles of anti-semitism. My children had friends who had coins thrown at them, were peppered with racial slurs, even beaten. One day in middle school, my daughter was sitting in study hall when the subject of an upcoming Jewish holiday came up. One of the kids complained, wondering why the district gave them a day off for a JEWISH holiday. My daughter spoke up, trying to explain that in the same way some holidays are important family times for us, Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur are important to Jewish families. And while my daughter wasn’t surprised when the child in question didn’t get it, she was surprised to hear the teacher mutter, “Stupid Jews.”>

So you see why I was unsurprised to hear that a lawsuit had been filed on behalf of multiple Jewish families in Pine Bush and even less surprised to hear the claims of innocence on the part of the district and its administrators. There is a culture of silence and solidarity in small towns, even when it is undeserved.

And again, I just dont get it. I've been on this earth for over half a century and lived in many states and a couple foreign countries. I have NEVER seen any reason to feel threatened by a Jew. Matter of fact, most Jews that I've known have always been more likely to joke about themselves! Like Wolowitz does on Big Bang Theory.
I cant remember seeing or reading any threat from the Jews to take over the world and implement their laws on the rest of us. Like what we hear from the Islamists about their "Calipahte'

14. Wonderful News for Anyone Who Has Ever Been Bullied in School
Fri Jul 10, 2015, 05:07 PM

This is very welcome news. School districts need to get very serious about stopping bullying. Antisemetism and racism have no place in our society. I wish I could sue our public schools for what I suffered as a kid and how it changed my life. At age 69 I am still sometimes afraid to be with a peer group, but I push myself to do it over and over, realizing that my fears are irrational. Double bad on this school district for being complicit in hurting and damaging these Jewish kids. This is really disgusting, maybe should be a federal crime?
