part of story more at link...

(CNN)Former President George H.W. Bush fell Wednesday while at his summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine, breaking a vertebrae in his neck, but "it was not life threatening," his spokesman Jim McGrath told CNN.

Bush was taken to a hospital in nearby Portland where he is "very stable," McGrath said.

The former president was never disoriented.

"We are not expecting a long stay," McGrath said, though he added Bush would be treated with a neck brace.

Bush last month just turned 91. He revealed several years ago he suffers from a form of Parkinson's disease.

Worried that Iran might start talking about the treason he and Reagan committed?

After all, Germany just prosecuted a 91 year old war criminal.

While not a political fan of his, he's aged and honestly, it's not fun for anyone in any family to go though the issues of aging parents. I hope everyone in his family is doing okay as this is likely a great scare for them.

Be kind DU folks....we're all great people when it comes to caring for everyone, even those which whom we disagree / dislike.

I hate loathe and despise him.

But I am sorry for any feeling being that is suffering.

Wish he and his ilk felt the same.

All politics aside, I hope he's okay. Falls can be really bad for someone his age. That's about the same age when my grandmother broke her hip.

my dad died several hours after he fell and hit his head on the dresser. he was 80, and it was actually a blessing in disguise, as he had COPD and could hardly breathe anymore. he was ready to go.

because if it were something really complicated the Boston hospitals aren't that much further away and they would've gone south.

Maine Medical Center in Portland probably has an express lane for the Bushes after they funded a new children's wing.

Should not entitle them to any special treatment. (In a rational world, so of course it does.) Yeah, I know I'm being idealistic, unrealistic, or something.

I detest the guy and his spawn, but I am sorry he got hurt.
I looked twice to make sure it was not *W who fell - my compassion would have been non-existent.

GHW Bush would be considered a liberal. If he had not been such a yes man to the repuke establishment, I may have considered him to be a decent human being.

I hope he feels better and makes a speedy recovery nevertheless.

Yeah, I wish some here would not act like Republicans & be so vengeful...I mean it is not like this is "W"! I personally don't think Daddy Bush would have allowed the crimes his son did during his administration...He kept Dick Cheney in check back then!!!

Don't get me wrong I don't think I agree with Daddy Bush on much of anything but like you said compared to today's Republicans they would consider him "Liberal"!!! Lets not forget Daddy Bush is the one who called Reagan's economic policies "Voo-Doo Economics" if my memory is correct...And he raised taxes which turned many in his party against him.

She looked like that in 1988. She used to look very old for age. Now she looks good for her age. I still think Poppy looks great for 91 though.

I wonder if prematurely white hair runs in her family or if it was the stress of losing a child. She also got a lot of sun on the golf course in the days before good sunscreens.
