My bet is that he is out in the woods along one of the thousands of unmarked tote roads that lead into the working forests. These roads are on no maps because the paths change from season to season as the foresters shift to different properties for harvesting.

He must be a drinker, he looks a lot older than 35, even accounting for the fact that nobody looks good in a mug shot unless he brings his makeup guy and photographer along for it.

I hope the people he shot survive. I also hope he's put away until his testosterone drops far enough he's no longer a danger to women, children, or anyone else.

Not putting you down, just pointing out that the whole idea of blaming someone's social identity - instead of the actual person - is what's broken...selection bias makes it seem like it's only the other guys who practice it.

Paul Doiron writes some pretty good police procedurals situated in the northern Maine woods, whose main character is a Maine Game Warden. The character in this news report sounds like one of the northern hillbillies in his most recent book, The Precipice.
