Tropical wave tracking westward across deep Atlantic

Although the United States has had two landfalling tropical storms so far this season, it's been unusually quiet in the deep tropics, where storms can tend to form this time of year.

That has changed, with the first tropical wave to watch in that area now tracking westward across the Atlantic.

Invest 93L was disorganized on Friday morning and had a 20 percent chance of development over the next five days. (National Weather Service)

The National Hurricane Center said Invest 93L was located more than 1,000 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands off Africa's west coast on Friday morning.

with many of my neighbors STILL out of homes from Sandy.. We are never happy to see the Season start up again.

This is one more to keep amateur storm watchers busy than any real threat. You never can be certain of course, but the prognosis for this system is not good.
