'Shocking' New Poll: Carly Fiorina Clear Winner of GOP Debate

Source: The Imperial Valley News

Washington, DC - A massive new poll of nearly 6,000 people across the U.S. picked Carly Fiorina as the clear-cut winner of Thursday's GOP debate. Thirty-seven percent or 3,710 of the respondents chose Ms. Fiorina as their candidate of choice; Donald Trump, who has dominated the headlines in the past few weeks came in third with just 14% or 1,379 of those participating in the survey opting for him.

The Association of Mature American Citizens posted the poll on their Web site, www.amac.com, yesterday and by Saturday morning more than 10,000 members and visitors to the site had picked their favorites.

Ted Cruz came took second place with 17% or 1,704 votes.

Dan Weber, president of AMAC, which boasts more than 1.3 members throughout the country, called it "a shocker. Ms. Fiorina participated in the Republican debates as part of a seven-person, second-tier event; but she apparently managed to overshadow the top-ten prime time debaters by a wide margin."

Ted Cruz came in second.. Most of the respondents were probably asleep during debate..

This has the whiff of unreliability.

I understand that other post-debate polling has Fiorina doing well and winning the debate, but nothing approaching this. I have also heard of some post-debate polling that had Cruz second, but it was second to Trump.

If the poll was of 6000 people, 3710 would be nearly 62%. Shows the quality of the information being presented.

A Better Business Review:

On August 21, 2014, the Better Business Bureau raised concerns about this firm’s advertisement on https://amac.us/ and requested that this firm substantiate their claims regarding the following: 1. What’s the difference between AMAC and AARP?...They are scaring older people to get members. 2. Your fellow Americans are joining AMAC because the AARP: Misrepresents the needs and wishes of American over 50; Either supports or is silent on many other issues that seniors oppose; Has very limited choices for insurance benefits. 3. Everything that was once good about the AARP is now better with Amac... 4. AMAC membership has recently exploded ...from 30,000 members to over 1.3 million members. As of November 18, 2014, the business has responded and the case has been closed as modified.

From AMAC (emphasis added):

For many years, there was only one senior organization. Now, you have a choice.

The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) is here to protect your interests, and to offer an alternative perspective on how to best solve the problems seniors face today. AMAC has stepped forward with a mission to restore America’s moral compass, to make America better. But we can’t do it alone. We need you. America needs you.

From a mere start-up in 2007, AMAC has evolved into an extraordinary force with considerable traction in our nation’s Capital. With over a million members, AMAC has positioned itself as an organization that our country’s leaders are taking note of, and we’re accomplishing this by advancing solutions instead of rhetoric. The conservative philosophies we share with our members pave the way for everything we do. In fact, we rely on input and participation from our members as prime ingredients in the initiatives we undertake. The opinions and the views put forth by AMAC on Capitol Hill are based on careful research and analysis, as evidenced by the “AMAC Social Security Guarantee” legislative proposal now under consideration in Washington.

PolitiFact:

The Association of Mature American Citizens was founded in 2007. Its founder, a retired insurance agency owner named Dan Weber, said he created it to counter what he saw as the political bias of the American Association of Retired Persons. Besides acting as a self-proclaimed conservative advocacy group, the organization offers discounts to members from cooperating businesses. http://www.politifact.com/personalities/association-mature-american-citizens/

In the realm of the GOP pretenders, she might be the best they have to offer.

Here is one of their proposals for "saving" Social Security.

Starting in 2017, phase in a change in the normal retirement age (NRA) by adding three months each year so that by 2024 the NRA would be age 69, instead of the present age 66-67 depending on birth year.
