At Council Bluffs rally, Ben Carson says he's tired of Democrats dividing the country

COUNCIL BLUFFS Ben Carson says hes tired of Democratic politicians and others trying to divide Americans along income and racial lines.
The Republican presidential contender accused President Barack Obama and others on Sunday of using class warfare and racial incidents to drive wedges between Americans and to score political points. He said a divided America would be easier for radical Islamists to attack.
When the jihadists come over here, before they cut your head off theyre not going to ask if youre a Democrat or a Republican. They dont care, Carson said during an appearance in Council Bluffs Bayliss Park, where a crowd of more than 600 people braved a steamy summer day to listen to him.
It was his final stop on a two-day swing through Iowa. Attendees munched on free corn on the cob and enjoyed music and performances by Christian puppeteers.

(12,882 posts)It's a POWERFUL hallucinogen. He knew when he threw his hat in the ring, that he didn't/doesn't have a ghost of a chance. And since he HAD TO know that, this can only be an exercise in self-aggrandizement. And he's got lots of like-minded compatriots in that door-bulging clown car manifest. ->

(15,223 posts)My post has absolutely NOTHING to do with race. I base my assessment of Dr. Carson on his past comments.

(9,992 posts)during his freshman year chemistry final!
My grades were so bad that, even if I had gotten an A on the final, I still wouldve failed. Thats how bad it was. But the professor was either very compassionate or very sadistic. Im not sure which one. Because he had a rule. He said, Anyone whos failing, Ill give them double credit on their final! So you had, like, that one last burst of hope before you went down.
So there I was, night before, thinking about my life. I said, Lord, medicine is the only thing I ever wanted to do. I always thought thats what you wanted from me. And yet, it looks like Im gonna fail chemistry. Im not gonna go to medical school.
I said, would you please tell me what it is you really want me to do? Or, alternatively and preferably, work a miracle?
I picked up that big chemistry book. I was gonna learn the whole thing that night. And, of course, I fell asleep. Dreamed I was in this large auditorium, just me and a nebulous figure working out chemistry problems.
And I awakened early that morning. That dream was so vivid in my mind. I picked up my book. I started looking up the stuff I dreamed about. And when I went to take the test the next morning, it was like The Twilight Zone. I opened that book and I recognized the first problem as one of the ones I dreamed about. And the next, and the next, and the next, and I aced the exam and, you know, got a good mark in chemistry. It worked out okay. And I promised the Lord he would never have to do that for me again.

Neither can be swept under the rug.
There is nothing immoral about wanting better for oneself, or noticing
that others have a disproportionate amount.
Class warfare will diminish when economic equality increases.

(11,087 posts)Democrats divide the country? Republicans in some places have talked about secession. Every time Obama tried to reach out a hand in bipartisanship, Republicans in Congress slapped it away. This must be his version of "Class warfare! Class warfare!"--the cry of Republicans every time a Democratic mentions income inequality.

(2,586 posts)dividing Americans. Racial profiling and income inequality are not wedge issues. They're problems Americans face everyday. I'm no neurosurgeon but I know that people aren't going to vote for someone who thinks going to bed at night hungry is a non-issue.
