Texas toddler dies in car as temperature tops 100 degrees

Source: AP

PECOS, Texas (AP) — Police say a toddler died after being left in a hot car during triple-digit temperatures in West Texas.

Pecos (PAY'-kuhs) police say 17-month-old Avrian Villalobos (AY'-vree-uhn vee-uh-LOH'-bohs) died Tuesday.

Chief Clay McKinney said Wednesday that Avrian's mother had Avrian and two older children with her when she dropped her husband off at work. The mother drove home and she and her two other children went inside, accidentally leaving the toddler in the car.

The mother later realized her mistake and tried to resuscitate Avrian. She drove him to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Don't have more children than you can count when tired, upset, or stressed. Or any combination thereof.

In my mother's case, that was one. In mine, zero.

"Hey, I just ran into the store for five minutes and I got delayed." "The dog is fine -- I cracked the window an inch." That sort of thing.

The people who leave babies have a lapse of memory that they will pay for for the rest of their lives. There might be some incidents where parents intentionally fried their kids, but the vast majority are horrible mistakes.

She left her in the car on purpose? Because that is the definition of "murder."

Maybe you can call her up and tell her you think she is a murderer. I guess she deserves more punishment beyond living the rest of her life in hell and regret.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

A disgusting post. A baby tragically dies and a DUer accuses the mother of murdering him. Certainly "hurtful, rude and insensitive".

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Aug 13, 2015, 11:39 AM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.

If you have a lot of things on your mind and operating on auto pilot it is not hard to just think that your baby is asleep in the house.

Everyone of us has forgotten something major in our lives. This is the ultimate example of that. It's horrific.

This mother will be tortured by this death for the rest of her life.

I guess I'm an "apologist" now according to posters upthread.

Invented by a kid to save kids. This boy entered a contest and won. The device is easy and cheap:

http://wkrn.com/2013/07/18/local-boy-invents-device-to-remind-parents-of-children-in-hot-cars/

It's really nothing more than a rubber band across the door, so the driver cannot forget.

If I were a parent, there is no way I would fail to buy this, as I used to forget a lot of things.

My son falls asleep almost 100% of the time while driving in the car. He's so quiet back there that you could "almost" forget he's back there.

I can't imagine having to live the rest of your life knowing that "you" killed your own child. Too tragic for words.

to leave a child under age 8 or so? alone in a car for any reason.

People don't seem to 'forget' the childs seat or seatbelt use as much as they 'forget' a baby.
