EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Sen. Tester to support Iran nuclear deal

Source: The Missoulian

U.S. Sen. Jon Tester on Thursday said he’ll back the Iran nuclear deal, calling it the most effective means available to prevent the nation from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Announcing his official position, Tester, D-Mont., called the agreement the most intensive nuclear deal ever reached. He said the deal, which lifts some sanctions on Iran in exchange for dismantling its nuclear program, is not built on trust and includes steps for verification.

“I do trust the U.S. military, and our intelligence assets will be watching Iran with a hawk eye,” Tester said. “The (International) Atomic Energy Agency will be aggressively monitoring this. It gives us more eyes on the ground in Iran than we’ve had since the 1970s.”

And, apparently, the entire GOP and Mr. Schumer do not. Perhaps it's time for the President, Sec. Kerry, and the rest of the "good guys" to start emphasizing that angle, given how much the republican base worships the military.

Glad to see Tester is on board with the treaty.
