Top Obama Strategist Joins Draft Biden Effort

Source: NBC NEWS

AUG 19 2015, 6:24 PM ET

A top Democratic strategist has joined the effort to recruit Vice President Joe Biden into the 2016 presidential race.

Steve Schale - who served as President Barack Obama's top Florida strategist during his 2008 and 2012 White House campaigns -- has joined the Draft Biden committee, NBC News has confirmed.

This makes Schale the biggest Obama World person to join up with Draft Biden.

Schale tells NBC News that he has no knowledge of Biden's White House intentions, but wanted to join the effort.

It can only mean that some of Hillary's support leaves, which helps Bernie Sanders! Oh God, how I would love to see Sanders against Rand Paul in November 2016. Maybe these idiot, low information voters would finally understand what is at stake in these elections!

is that Sanders (and O'Malley and the rest) are not adequate challengers for Clinton. That assumption is bullshit. If this were to happen (and it is not happening), this would just divide the not-Clinton vote among more candidates making it more difficult for any of those candidates to rise up. If you want Sanders to improve in the polls, you would want the not-Clinton vote to coalesce behind Sanders. A Biden candidacy would have the exact opposite effect.

If you think the Clinton campaign is faltering, you want Sanders to capitalize on that weakness, not Biden (but while I'm a Sanders supporter, I do not think the Clinton campaign is faltering -- just ask yourself, whose numbers and campaign would you want: Clinton's or Bush's or Walker's or Rubio's or Christie's etc.? if you need a reminder of what a faltering campaign looks like, just check out any establishment Republican's campaign).

... I'll bet he hasn't forgotten how Hillary's insults, both blatant and dog whistle ones, dragged him through the mud in 2008. Revenge is a dish that is best served cold.

P.S. I can't support Biden any more than I can support Hillary. His vote on Iraq, the PATRIOT ACT, and the bankruptcy bill among others are deal-breakers for me.

But he's also a bit of a blowhard, who loves the sound of his own voice and tends to talk out of one side of his mouth while voting out the other.

I don't think he will run. Age, health, emotional toll of losing his son. But who knows?

It will turn into a MAJOR pie fight if he does.

Hillary Clinton looks good in comparison.

Biden seems like a nice enough guy, but the answer to the unenthusiastic response to Clinton is not a more conservative candidate.

to Mrs.Clinton, barely distinguishable, joining late in the game - is a ploy, and everyone except the perpetually fooled and willfully blind might see that.

People who want to vote for an old white guy but not gonna vote for a socialist - there ya go. When he drops out he will throw his support to Mrs. Clinton for at least 4 more years of continuing poverty and hunger for tens of millions of American workers and their children.

Go Bernie.
