Danville Nestle workers approve union

Nestle employees in Danville have voted to unionize.

In an effort coordinated by the United Steelworkers union, hourly workers decided Wednesday they want to be represented by the same union used by Danville’s Goodyear employees — Local 831 based in Providence, North Carolina.

"The NLRB [National Labor Relations Board] has informed us that the employees have chosen to be represented by the union," Nestle Corporate and Brand Affairs Director Roz O’Hearn said early Thursday morning.

The election results will not be official until certified — approximately seven days after the date of election.
