Lawsuit against Obama opens crack for GOP (ACA)
Source: Journal Media Group
WASHINGTON An unprecedented House lawsuit against President Barack Obama that was once derided as a certain loser looks stronger now and may soon deliver an early legal round to Republican lawmakers complaining of executive branch overreach.
A federal judge is expected to decide shortly whether to dismiss the suit, but thanks to an amended complaint and a recent Supreme Court ruling, the Republican-backed case has a much better chance of proceeding, attorneys agree.
At issue is whether the House may sue in court to defend its constitutionally granted power of the purse if the president spends money that was not appropriated by Congress.
The lawsuit alleges that Obamas top aides quietly claimed the power to spend $178 billion over the next decade to reimburse health insurers for covering the cost of copayments for low-income people who buy subsidized insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Republicans are lazy - they can't build anything that the American people really want, so they tell themselves they're doing what America wants by tearing down things that have proven themselves successful.

(156 posts)i can see why congress would want to sue the president over this issue. i understand basic civics and that he may have over stepped his authority and congresses need to protect their authority over the purse. i do not agree with the motives this is being done under and agree if the republicans would expend anywhere near the amount of energy working with the president rather than pushing back against him we may have been well on our way to being a great country again like we were in the late 40's to early 70's the so called post new deal era and pre trickle down era.
