White House praises Vice President Biden’s ‘aptitude’ for presidency

Source: Reuters

The White House on Monday praised the political acumen and experience of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is considering whether to run for president in the November 2016 election.

President Barack Obama “has indicated his view that the decision that he made seven years ago now to add Joe Biden to the ticket as his running mate was the smartest decision he had ever made in politics,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at a briefing.

“I think that should give you some sense of the president’s view of Vice President Biden’s aptitude for the top job,” Earnest said.

I hope that ultimately she is treated just as harshly as she wanted to treat Snowden. Nobody should be above the rules, especially not someone so close to big money interests.

Not that I think that Biden is necessarily going to win the nomination, nor do I necessarily think Bernie will either. But as it was in 2007, Hillary is once again going from the inevitable nominee to having to grind it out against opponents who come out of nowhere. I still think she's the odds-on fave to win the nomination, but if she goes limping into the general election, she stands a chance of getting drowned by Jeb Bush's tsunami of PAC money.

If you saw the latest poll numbers, Hillary still polls 50 points above Biden and 46 above Sanders.

But I'll stick with Bernie...we need a complete change in direction, one that is 99% focused instead of 1% focused.

Biden is just a clone of HRC...no hope or true change there.

And if Warren sides with Biden...I'll be so pissed off...it will show that she is not as progressive as people think.

If true, Obama certainly waited a long time to get revenge on HRC for her nasty remarks in 2008.

Biden is a nice guy but totally sold out to the credit card companies and banks.

Here is a positive article about him and Warren.

http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2015/08/24/434331154/the-biggest-divide-between-joe-biden-and-elizabeth-warren

Read the whole article. Warren mentions Biden in her book. He voted for the horrid bankrtuptcy bill of 2005. Big mistake. But I'm sure it endeared him to bankers.

The bankruptcy bill of 2005 resulted in the fact that you cannot get rid of (discharge) your student loans in a bankruptcy court. Trump can get rid of his corporate debts in a bankruptcy court, but you can't release yourself from the obligation to pay off student loans.

Yuo can be 75 and unable to work. But if you still owe on student loans, the monthly payments are deducted from your Social Security. You can supposedly get some deferments and relief, but they aren't much help.

Biden voted for the bill that settled those debts on American kids and people trying to go back to school so they could get jobs and work.

No to Biden.

And if Biden wants to run, really, truly, he should. I think it's a lame idea, and it is a concept that sounds louder than it actually is inside his bubble, helped along by a media that some accuse of favoring this one and ignoring that one, but hey, whatever. What will be, will be...!

I would be surprised if he got much traction. It would make the process interesting in that we'd probably be sure to see a brokered convention, i.e. everyone drags their ass to the party to stake their claim; as long as the money holds out, and the candidates stay in. Then we'd see candidates releasing their delegates in exchange for favors, and/or the election would be decided by Democratic super-delegates.

Been years since we've seen a real knock-down, drag-out. Last time we did, Nixon ended up being the one....

Fortunately, we don't have any wars of choice/drafts to deal with, so hopefully the fights will stay INSIDE the doors, and not be expressed out in the streets.

It would only take one or two classified or embarrassing emails to make Hillary's job all but impossible. The emails would be run on a loop 24/7 by the right wing news outlets. Even though they may not warrant the attention, this is how the Republicans work. Take one thing and blow it way out of proportion then keep repeating it until it seems like a big deal. Karl Rove and company are thugs, they do whatever it takes to win.

I have to assume the admin knows more than it's letting on about this email thing.

I know Obama wants a dem to follow him up and so do I.

I don't like Bidens credit card background, nor his anti drug stuff. On the other hand I think he's better than Hillary on Foreign Policy.

I love Bernie, don't think he's as strong as Hillary or Biden on foreign policy but he's more right on on the serious problems facing the US than either.

I like Hillary and think she might be more legislatively successful than either Biden or Bernie and think she can do battle as well as Bernie with the GOP.

But for me #1 is that it's a democrat in there.

Edwards fooled me and I didn't think there was any way he would go as far as he did with a possible campaign wrecking affair he was hiding. If he had won the primary he could have lost the election for us.

I really want to know about this email thing. I just don't know whether it's BS or Real yet. If it is a potential campaign wrecking thing I want somebody taking up the rear that can step in and WIN.

I want Bernie to win but I can' see him winning against Biden. The reality is many people still don't even know who Bernie is. I tell everyone I know but that's like preaching to the choir.

If he didn't think he had that aptitude, it would have been an error to retain him in 2012.
