U.S. Labor Secretary to discuss minimum wage during visit to Detroit

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan among those joining roundtable discussion

DETROIT -
United States Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez is headed to Detroit Tuesday to discuss minimum wage and workers' rights as part of his national Shared Prosperity for a Stronger America tour. Perez is an advocate of the Fight for 15 movement in Michigan.

Perez will host a roundtable discussion highlighting how Fight for 15 shows the importance of workers coming together to express their voice in the workplace. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, President of SEIU Healthcare Michigan Marge Robinson and Detroit 15 President Mark Riley will join Perez in the discussion.

During his tour, Perez is traveling across the country to discuss:

President Barack Obama's commitment to expand opportunity, reward work and grow the middle class
Working together to raise wages
Training more workers with skills for a 21st century economy
Creating job opportunities for young people
Expanding paid leave
Giving workers a voice at the workplace
