State police: Officer, 2 others shot; injuries not known (SW Louisiana)

Source: AP

SUNSET, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say a police officer and two other people have been shot in the southwestern Louisiana.

State police Superintendent Mike Edmonson says troopers are on the way to the scene in Sunset, about 70 miles west of Baton Rouge, after getting a call around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Edmonson says the shooting reportedly took place near a convenience store. He says the officer was "responsive" but he has no details on the extent of the officer's injuries — or those of the other two people who were shot.

Tonette Thibodeaux of the Sunset police department confirms that an officer was shot but says she does not have any details.

Cops are in real danger now a days. They need better equipment to protect them. The bullet proof vests are not enough. Prayers to those involved.

a small minority, the vast majority routinely cover up for them.

We need to fire ALL police and ALL police administrators and start over again with many new rules and methods etc

groups that have been increasing their numbers since Obama took office. In fact, more LEO's have lost their lives to RW extremists than any other group.

It's BAD law enforcement officers who get the scrutiny from the left.

Perhaps you didn't notice the difference?

Can we please tell the cowardly media stop listening to the childish blabberings of the corrupt NRA and their corrupt Party. Stop treating tens of thousands of deaths by the gun as some kind of fucking inconvience, each one a great tragedy....tens...of thousands...per....year.

GUNS in America are the terrorists that makes ISIS terrorists look like punters.

GUNS: 30000 deaths a year in America; ISIS 0, ever.

In 'rampage,' Sunset police officer among 2 dead, 2 injured; suspect in custody

A Sunset police officer was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon by a man who then crashed his car into a mini-mart about three blocks from where he is alleged to have stabbed three people, one of whom also died.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz identified the officer who was killed as Henry Nelson, 51.

Also killed was Shameka Johnson, 40, Guidroz said. Two others were injured with stab wounds, including the suspect’s wife, the sheriff said.

He identified the suspect as Harrison Lee Riley Jr., 35, of Arnaudville.
