New Jersey Sen. Booker announces support for Iran nuclear deal; another boost for Obama

Source: US News & World Report

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey is the latest Democrat to announce his support for the Iran nuclear deal.

He's siding with President Barack Obama despite home-state pressures to say "no."

Booker says in a statement that the deal is flawed, but the alternative is worse.

On Wednesday, Senate Democrats clinched the needed votes to uphold Obama's veto, if necessary, of a resolution of disapproval that Republicans are trying to pass this month.

Booker becomes the 35th Democratic or independent senator to back the deal.

Thank you, Senator Booker. I thought he would crumble under the pressure from the Lobby, Menendez, etc. But he stood up and did the right thing.

is that it is too late to vote NO.

The European partners could not wait to resume relations with Iran; top leaders have already traveled there.

After we squandered the good will of the whole world following the 9/11 attack, the other nations are not going to follow us just because we ask.

have not refused to sign on yet by my count: Bennet (CO), Cantwell (WA), Cardin (MD), Peters(MI), Blumenthal (CT), and Manchin (WV). If Reid can get two thirds of them, President Obama won't even have to veto.

Reid needs four of the remaining five, or three if Wyden (OR) somehow supports a filibuster, even though he's leaning toward voting with Rs to overturn a veto.

but if they throw-up so riders during the debate the party can filibuster the back door shenanigans that McConnell and his right wing crew will try to do , to anything else in this country that's bot tied down to protect programs and the United nations will hold there vote shortly.
It would just be nice to have that leverage in my opinion

How the fuck anyone can deny the crushing weight of world public, governmental and expert opinion after a thorough analysis by all of the 150 page agreement is fucking ridiculous.

Ostriches with heads buried ass deep in ideological sand. The GOP are only dangerous so long as logic and facts and common sense are ignored in favor of lies, propaganda and Victimhood.

Of anything other than their corporate sponsors. And these sponsors really don't want any deal-making to be done in a public forum like congress. They want all deals done privately, in special wealthy enclaves, and announced to the unwashed as "partnerships".

Someday I hope to read a memoir from a Boner or Turtle that exposes the real workings within that party.

Unfortunately, I think the plutocrats have sunk their poisonous fangs into the other party as well. I hope it can select a real patriot before its end-of-life tremors set in.

a little conservative bend. I'm glad I didn't bet and I'm glad I was wrong. This is good news. Maybe the President will have the best last three years of any President.

Lets give the new President a working Congress. We need really turn out the vote.
