Source: TPM
The writer of the contentious Rolling Stone profile of Donald Trump has spoken out about the celebrity tycoon's insult about his rival GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina's face: "He was not talking about her persona."
Trump told CNN on Thursday that he was talking about the his rival's "persona" and poor leadership performance at two technology companies when he told Rolling Stone, "Look at that face!"

(3,457 posts)Seriously, I don't think someone saying Trump is a bombastic liar is news.

(394 posts)I think lately nobody on national tv has called him liar. This would be a first at least in the last 3 months. The bigger news i think is whether the media will cover this obvious lie, other than the piece on CNN and TPM.

(1,290 posts)He is correct when saying look at that face. Seriously, no way you can look at Fiorina and envision the leader of the free world. (but then again, that could be said of most of the Clown Car)

(23,102 posts)Don't you get it, face only matters when you are a woman, that's why he said this. He doesn't say anything about Huckabee looking like a hunting hound or Christie being fat as fuck, he just goes after how the woman looks and says this disqualifies her. Nobody every talks in the media about mens' looks, mens' clothes, they just use this to disparage women. Please don't advance their misogynistic stances on women, it's not nice, even when she does have the bad character be to be Repug. Put her down for that, not her looks.

(2,212 posts)Since when is it ever "correct" to mock a person based on his or her facial features? I mean, outside of junior high school?
I urge you to rethink that comment of yours.

(1,290 posts)Disagree. There is something real about the eye test when it comes to elections. Would agree that there is something Middle School'ish about it, but its real. Looks and physical features matters at the very least on a subconscious manner historically anyway. Afterall, Kennedy won the TV debate, but lost same debate with radio listeners in 60. And how many times has the shorter candidate won in last 100 years?
And with that, I say again, Fiorina does not pass the eye test for the leader of the free world.

(153,160 posts)I do think she looks botoxed and fillered to the point she doesn't make genuine expressions but what exactly do you mean?
Old Crow
(2,212 posts)... is the shameless and frequent lying. I've never seen anything like it. Now he claims he was referring to Fiorina's "persona." A week or so ago, he says he was referring to Megyn Kelly's "nose." Not five minutes after he directed Security to throw Jorge Ramos out of a press conference, he claimed he had nothing to do with it. At his announcement that he was running for president, with at best 350 people in attendance, including paid actors, he said--with a straight face in front of a roomful of reporters--"Whoa! That is some group of people. Thousands. There's been no crowd like this."
For a public figure, Trump takes lying to a new and disturbing level.

(12,586 posts)from the article:
Solotaroff described the scene on Trump's private plane for CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, saying there were two Donalds in the room. One, according to Solotaroff, is an "extraordinarily shrewd predator." The other has "this 12- to 14-year-old boy sort of permanently affixed to his inner life."
That's where the Fiorina comments came from, he told Cooper.
"The second guy in the room with us was this guy whose emotional development I think stopped around 13 or 14. The kid that made the crack about Carly. The guy who made the crack about his daughter. The guy who got tossed out of the posh prep schools in Queens and sent to a military academy upstate where no son of a rich man ever winds up unless he really deserves to be there," he said.
