Pope vows to hold clergy accountable for sex abuse

PHILADELPHIA—Pope Francis on Sunday addressed the scourge of clergy sex abuse, vowing that the Catholic Church would provide "careful oversight" to protect young believers.

In unscripted remarks at the beginning of his address to bishops Sunday at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Francis said "great harm" was caused by the clergy sex abuse scandal that has marred the church over the last decade. Francis said he met with survivors of clerical sex abuse on Sunday and promised to hold clergy responsible for abuse accountable.

There's something about this guy that emanates a serious and pragmatic acceptance of the consequences of a commitment to live the philosophy of Christ.

April 2010:
"Pope Benedict XVI tells child sex abuse victims: Abusive priests will be held accountable by church."

June of 2014, now with Francis:
"Catholic bishops will be held accountable for not protecting youths, Pope says."
http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/07/world/pope-clerical-sex-abuse/

This is what they say, year after year. None of the guilty are prosecuted, none of the vows are kept. Over a year Francis has been making this vow, and no action as yet. None, none at all.

on this issue, but the wonderpope and his PR spinmeisters know that if he throws out a few empty promises and meaningless platitudes for the fawning media and uncritical laity, that's enough to satisfy them that everything will be hunky-dory.

Telling Bernard Law to submit to a little "redemptive suffering" and surrender himself to the authorities in the U.S. would be a good start. Followed by releasing ALL information on complaints of sexual abuse of children by priests and making them fully available to law enforcement in whatever country they are alleged to have occurred, and full and unconditional cooperation with those authorities in any investigation and prosecution.

Even the RCC's most fawning supporters know that will never happen. And yet their apologetics continue on automatic pilot.

What a bunch of suckers.

The roman catholic church of child rape has been covering up for these perverts for decades. Bernie fucking Law fled to the vatican when he should be doing lice without parole at Walpole penitentiary.

Franky needs to send these pervs to prison or STFU.

I'd be more inclined to believe it if he'd started with Dolan while he was in NY. He's not the biggest offender by any means, but he's the biggest fish here in America (and one of the biggest in the world).
