TransCanada asks Nebraska regulators to OK Keystone XL route

LINCOLN -- A Canadian company has asked Nebraska regulators to approve the same route for its proposed Keystone XL pipeline that was authorized two years ago by the governor.
TransCanada Corp. filed an application late Monday with the Nebraska Public Service Commission for a pipeline that would transport mostly heavy crude from Canada to a terminal in Steele City, Nebraska, and on to Gulf Coast refineries, company spokesman Mark Cooper said.
The company is seeking permission to use eminent domain to obtain easements to about 60 land parcels whose owners dont want the pipeline on their properties.
Cooper said in an email that the application includes the same Nebraska route approved in 2013 by then-Gov. Dave Heineman. The governor gave the roughly 275-mile path his blessing following a 10-month environmental review by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality in 2012.

(23,097 posts)stay strong and say no to these vultures who just want to ruin your land for profit. Even worse, they want us to steal the land for them so they can then pollute away with impunity. Do the right thing, regardless of what you think Canada will do.
