3 students shot at house party near a Nashville university
Source: AP
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Police say three students have been wounded by gunfire, including one shot in the head, at an off-campus party near Tennessee State University in Nashville.
Metro Nashville Police Lt. Danny Haley told The Tennessean ( http://tnne.ws/1X2DhQl ) that officers went to a home across the street from the campus after receiving 911 calls of shots fired. Haley says witnesses told officers the shooting began soon after three armed males arrived at the home and were turned away from the party.
Haley says the victims were all students from Tennessee universities between 19 and 20 years old. He says the student shot in the head was in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center while the others had non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say they are seeking three black males.

As usual. Why don't you just say it. BACAAAAWK KAWK.
hack89
(39,171 posts)that should come as no surprise to you. Avoid certain areas and your chances of being a victim of violent crime plummet.
You are dancing around, why don't you say what you really meant to say.
hack89
(39,171 posts)concentrate them and you have concentrated crime.
If it is impossible to debate basic facts like the distribution of crime than we have nothing to talk about. I know to you it is all about the gunz but we don't live in a cartoon world.

(2,807 posts)with the level of violence in neighborhoods with generational poverty is being obtuse, a characteristic that is prevalent among the "gun thread only" defenders of all things 2A and NRA.
Your attitude about those neighborhoods is clear, you don't go there and are happy that your kids won't go there to school. I am certain that that attitude will help bring up the quality of life in those areas.......not.
Still won't say it? Let me help you.....black people (or worse).
hack89
(39,171 posts)is being extremely obtuse.
Unless you can prove that the level of gun ownership is significantly higher in high crime areas. Can you prove that?
Lets not forget that we have cut our murder rate in half since 1992 - are you going to argue we have gun ownership rates in half?

hack89
(39,171 posts)do I really have to explain crime rates to you?
Mass shootings are rare events in places with low violent crime rates. In some cities, gun violence is a daily occurrence.

This substitution is quite popular in anti-gun arguments, not so much because it is an accurate reflection of the occurrence of mass-shootings but because Americans are appalled when events don't take place where they are expected--in high crime, urban neighborhoods.
Mass shootings in their expected places don't typically make page one.
This whole topic is racialized and politicized into "an intolerable serious problem" that actually looks nothing like the horrendously intolerable problem represented by the empirical data.

Instead of blaming an Org., why not blame the shooter themselves?

(70,592 posts)And the NRA works to make it easy for people to get guns and those guns kill and wound people
every day and I am sick of it. The NRA sells fear in order to keep people buying guns, bullets, and
military gear because "their freedoms" are under attack by the "gun grabbers."
The NRA has the blood of all those gun victims on its hands.
BTW I have hunted and owned guns for years.

Australia enacted one of the largest gun reforms ever nearly 2 decades ago and gun deaths plummeted

(2,807 posts)but how do these gangs get so much fire power?
hack89
(39,171 posts)if the cartels can smuggle in drugs by the truck load than the drug gangs will always have all the firepower they need.
But you knew that. Now run off and play with your toys. Bang bang!!

(2,807 posts)are the threat. The proliferation of more and more dangerous weaponry has made this country a mess. People like you are to blame.
Do not try to deny that you are a gun obsessionist. You appear in every gun thread spewing forth the company line. That company being the NRA, a wholly immoral organization.
you are the threat if you think firearms are toys, you should have your firearms removed, until you can prove that firearms are not toys.
Number two, I'm no threat to you or society, my firearms, are not toys and I treat them with respect and keep them locked up when not in use.
And I'll most certainly deny I'm a "gun obsessionist".
So what if I appear in firearm threads?
What business is it of yours what threads I comment in?
The NRA being a "wholly immoral organization" is your opinion only, millions of Americans have a different opinion.
