Ben Carson 'Suspends' Campaign For A Book Tour

Source: huffingtonpost

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) suspended his presidential campaign for a financial crisis. Famed neurosurgeon Ben Carson is doing so for a book tour.

According to ABC News, Carson has put his public campaign events on hold to focus on fundraising events and stops to promote his new book, A More Perfect Union. He is scheduled to hold book signings next week in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.

Carson's last public event was a health care town hall meeting in Des Moines, Iowa, on Oct. 2. He will not appear at a public campaign event again until the next Republican presidential debate in Boulder, Colorado, on Oct. 28.

Keep him on 'how to do neurosurgery' and he makes sense. People like him because he's not Trump, and he's not the Republican politicians who have fucked things up so much. If he can keep the facade of being intellectually competent up by talking about what he was good at, and about political issues as little as possible, they might keep him popular for a bit longer.

This "suspension" seems more like a slightly different form of campaigning versus a signal that Carson is ready to give up.

Of course, it's always possible that his accountant has calculated that he's extracted the maximum amount of fame from his preposterous candidacy, and it's time to monetize that notoriety before even the wingnuts realize that he's an empty fraud.

I've thought for a while that Dr. Carson needs a doctor. His mumbled speech, the bizarre eye-closing behavior, the odd statements---these are things that don't seem like behavior one would expect from a brilliant (so we're told) neurosurgeon. The only thing that makes sense to me is that this man is ill.

republicans game the rules and game the laws so they don't have to 'really work' to earn a living.

He will probably sell his book to his campaign (campaign gives them away free), then the campaign funds go into his personal pocket. republicans are pros at that 'game'.
