JERUSALEM — The death of an Eritrean migrant who was shot and beaten by a mob that mistakenly believed he was a Palestinian attacker set off a round of soul-searching Monday amid the jittery atmosphere sweeping Israel in a wave of unrest.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the vigilantism. Some critics accused Israel’s leaders of fostering the charged climate, while others called for the swift prosecution of the crazed mob.

“It is a disgrace to Israeli society, and those that carried out this lynching need to be found and brought to justice,” said Yaakov Amidror, Netanyahu’s former national security adviser.

“Even if it was the terrorist himself, by the way, after he was shot, after he was neutralized and lying on the floor, you need to be an animal to torment him,” he told Israel Radio.

is never ending! The Israelis and Palestinians have been fighting each other all of my life and I'm 55. I just wish they could live peacefully next to each other and stop the bombing, the fighting, the beatings etc. Ugh, it's frustrating.

Apparently tearing the baby in half and 'sharing' the 900 year old buildings & 10 billion tourist industry revenue isn't enough for Hamas.

And the city become a government of itself like the vatican.

Then there will be peace.

* what they fight over is divided culturally and historically into four Quarters (clockwise from the south-east): the Jewish Quarter, the Armenian Quarter, the Christian Quarter and the Muslim Quarter.

people will have to learn to share

starving them out. Palestinians can't get the funding to rebuild all that was lost in the last bombings. Israel has pushed them against the wall. (and no, I do not support anyone killing anyone)

Hamas tunnels?

If you mean the bombed area, I agree give the people enough money to rebuild. do not give the money to Hamas gov. , they do not share with their people.

Let them have and manage their own "State/ Country".

education there is 'free' through UN? schools, electric is 'Free' from Israel and healthcare is through Israel though there is a hospital funded through donations?.

But, yes I agree give Pals their own country and set-up a work visa system for any of the million or so who work in Israel and still want a job in Israel.

The Arabs/Muslims living in East Jerusalem are living as occupied people.

Being open to tourists is not being shared. Moscow is not sharing the Kremlin with its neighbors. The US is not sharing Times Square with Japan and Canada.

You do not understand the concept of sharing.

Taking the whole pie is not sharing.
