Bernie Sanders Launches His First Television Ad

Source: Huffington Post

The presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) launched his first television ad on Sunday.

The 30-second spot, titled "Real Change," is slated to go on air in the key early states of Iowa and New Hampshire, and is backed by more than $2 million. The ad focuses on Sanders' background and policy record, stretching back to his time as mayor of Burlington, Vermont.

“People are sick and tired of establishment politics and they want real change," Sanders says in the commercial.

The ad follows several good weeks of headlines for one of his rivals in the race for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton. The former secretary of state has seen her standing improve after the Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas and her testimony at the Benghazi committee on Capitol Hill.

Each time you watch it, you pick up something new ... a clever videographer's trick.
The last thing you want is for it to become boring from repeated views.

I would like to see the opposition come up with something truthful to counter it, and not attack him.

It is a very positive ad that defines who he is and has been all his career. It may come down to whether - among Democrats - there is REALLY a desire for real change - or whether staying the course (with a Democratic Peresident) is where the majority of primary voters are.

As to the general election, we really don't know who the Republicans will end up with -- but we do know that known of the Republicans running are really impressive. Not to mention - even if Bernie might do better against some Republicans - it won't matter if most Democrats don't want the chance of change. (I suspect that the Clinton people are hedging their bets via all these shifts to the left intending to have her run on change - suggesting that given the right way/wrong way numbers the election will favor change.)

I have always hated analysis by a few personal observations, but I was very stunned when a religious, Catholic, conservative relative,a Reagan Democrat, who had linked to various Carson things on facebook a year ago - told me that Carson was creepy and she really liked what Bernie was saying. (I completely held my tongue and did not point out that she had told me people like Obama and Kerry were too liberal. )
