McMahon Declared Winner in Race for Staten Island DA

NY1 has declared Democrat Michael McMahon the winner in the race for Staten Island district attorney over Republican Joan Illuzzi.

With 80 percent of precincts reporting as of 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, McMahon has 55 percent of the vote to Illuzzi's 45 percent.

Illuzzi is a former Manhattan prosecutor. McMahon is a former Congressman and City Councilman.

Staten Island is as racist as it gets. I would have expected a hard liner GOP candidate to cruise to victory.

Some people I know say no, some say it is. It's a blue collar Irish/Italian borough. Giuliani won there in 1989, 1993, and 1997. Eltingville is a very conservative neighborhood, South Shore. Staten Island hates De Blasio. They voted for Lhota.
