CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - FOX 32 News has just learned that Lt. Joe Gliniewicz’s wife Melodie and son D.J. are under criminal investigation in connection with the embezzlement of funds from the Fox Lake Police Explorer Program.

"With those partners, our investigation strongly indicates criminal activity on the part of at least two other individuals," Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Commander George Filenko said.

Investigators believe Lt. Gliniewicz took his own life, on September 1st, because his theft of funds from the Explorer Program was about to be exposed.

Now, FOX 32’s Craig Wall has confirmed police are investigating whether Melodie and D.J Gliniewicz had any part in the embezzling scheme.

Through an attorney, the Gliniewicz family released a statement saying: "Today has been another day of deep sorrow for the Gliniewicz Family. The family has cooperated with the Task Force’s investigation and will not comment at this time. The Gliniewicz family requests that their privacy be respected as they continue to cope with the loss of the beloved husband and Father."

he ever had any "ethics?"

Bullies, thieves, and abusers choose law enforcement as a profession as predictably as closeted gay men profess homophobia.

Gliniewicz’s attempt to instill fear with his last words about how 2 Blacks and a White guy are chasing him..
because believe me it worked...Hours upon hours of news coverage of the attempt to chase these thugs down..

Officer Joe certainly was smart to add the White guy, certainly mixed a lot of people up..

Couldn't help adding a racial slant too.
Good thing those picked up had alibis or this would have been a closed case and the jail door shut on them he fantasizes about the auditor in a text to his son

In one text exchange, Gliniewicz’s son said he hopes that Marrin, the village administrator gets a DUI, according to the transcript.

In the same exchange from May 13, Joe Gliniewicz took it farther and hinted at final resting places for her, including the Volo Bog — a nearby state parkland: “I’ve thought through MANY SCENARIOS from planting things to the Volo Bog.”

Filenko acknowledged in another text — that has not been made public — that Gliniewicz hinted at hiring a hit man to kill Marrin.

Not a murder for hire operation. Why the massive freakout? There has got to be something more here. How tied can a man be to his own public reputation when he's busy fucking it up from the inside, to kill himself? This guy was programmed to self destruct.
