Officials: 4 Dead in Shooting in Central Maine
Source: ABC new (AP)
Authorities say four people are dead, including the gunman who opened fire at a home in central Maine.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the shooting erupted Wednesday night in Oakland.
He says two women and man were shot to death inside the home, where they lived with the gunman.
The shooter killed himself outside and his body was found in the driveway.
McCausland says a 4-year-old girl was found unharmed inside the house.

So up here, it literally is an isolated incident.
Derico was arrested and fined for drug possession back in September.

It looks like one of the victims also has a history of drug abuse and other emotional/psych problems.

its ANOTHER mass firearm killing IN AMERICA. on average, 1 a week. it's not isolated from other MASS KILLINGS.
ANOTHER gun owner who used his weapon to KILL HIS FAMILY rather than for "Personal Protection".

(14,881 posts)The psych problems and drug problems are rooted in poverty and hopelessness.
Up here, guns are ubiquitous, but they are not typically used for personal protection. Guns up here are mostly used by natives for hunting for food, and by visitors for hunting for sport.

but nationwide, it is common. or hadn't you noticed?
I presume your point is: people need firearms to feed their families; a mass killing of that family is just one of the risks that comes along with meeting this need.

How awful! My heart goes out to her.
