A police car was set alight and its windscreen smashed near Green Park as thousands of anti-capitalist campaigners flowed past the capital's landmarks wearing the trademark Guido masks synonymous with the Anonymous hacking group.
What started off as a peaceful protest descended into violence as activists clashed with officers.
Some protesters were treated for bloody injuries and were given first aid at the scene.
There was a sudden surge of activity about half an hour into the event, as several people at the front broke off and ran towards the Churchill War Rooms.

OK. I've gone from uproarious laughter to utter indifference back to uproarious laughter.
Made my day.

- Guy Fawkes-Bonfire Night Demonstrators Set Off Flares in Front of the Houses of Parliament in London Tonight-
Guy Fawkes Day/Bonfire Night on Nov. 5 is an annual celebration in the UK. The event has been held since 1605 when Catholic Guy Fawkes and a group of conspirators plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate Protestant King James I. The attempt failed and the people were permitted to celebrate the King's survival with a yearly lighting of bonfires in London.
In 2012 the Million Mask March was created in informal association with the Anonymous group and to protest the establishment, austerity and other current issues.
This year's Million Mask March held events in London, Edinburgh, Sydney, Auckland, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Mexico, Guatemala, San Francisco, Denver, New York City and Washington, DC.
